What ads on Instagram will look like

Anyone with a bit good common sense has probably been expected ads to come to Instagram for a long time, but it wasn't until about a month ago that it was officially confirmed, and even explained shortly after on the company's blog.

Today, Instagram took to their blog again to give us an idea of how ads will look like and what we'll be able to do about them...

iOS 7.0.3 brings back web and Wikipedia search from Spotlight

A feature that could have easily gone unnoticed with yesterday's release of iOS 7.0.3 is the return of web and Wikipedia search directly from Spotlight. The feature had been missing since the first beta release of Apple's latest mobile operating system.

To access it, simply pull your Home screen down to reveal Spotlight Search. Then start typing whatever you're looking for. If necessary, scroll all the way down. In my experience, I've found that some common searches usually return tons of emails first, making the feature a little less convenient to use than I would want to...

iPad Air photo gallery

Apple just unveiled the iPad Air to the world. Sporting the same 9.7 inch screen, the iPad Air is the thinnest and lightest full size tablet to date.

Like everything Apple makes, the iPad Air is also a beautiful piece of hardware. We've gathered several images of the iPad Air for your viewing pleasure.

iPad Air vs iPad mini with Retina display tech specs

We recently published the tech specs for the iPad mini with Retina display versus the original iPad mini. Many of you were curious to see how the new iPad mini with Retina display does when pitted against the iPad Air, in terms of tech specs.

What difference is there between the iPad Air and the iPad mini with Retina display, besides the larger screen? You can find out about that, and many more tech specifications differences below...

iPad mini with Retina display vs iPad mini tech specs

Apple quickly unveiled the new iPad mini with Retina display today. The event felt like a non event as the company didn't spend much time talking about the new device.

Prior to the announcement, I was worried that the mini, my iPad of choice, was going to get a weight and size increase, just like the iPad 3 got when it was updated with a Retina display. Turns out that my concern got confirmed as the Retina mini is indeed a tad bit bigger than its predecessor. Nothing dramatic, as you can see in the iPad mini with Retina display tech specs compared to the original iPad mini...

Watch this guy recreate the iOS 7 Home screen in Microsoft Word

http://youtu.be/RZp7BvQJnU8

What if iOS 7 had been created using Microsoft Word? The chances are very slim to say the least, but you'll see in this video that this is not completely impossible either, as Word expert Vaclav Krejci demonstrates for us.

Of course the video isn't in real time, and if you're not impressed by the fact that iOS 7 could have almost been designed using Microsoft Word, you have to be impressed by Krejci's skills.

How to use Frequent Locations and Maps Destinations features in iOS

A few days ago, I posted a screenshot of my Notification Center showing travel time to my next destination, something iOS had learned about me without any sort of data input of my part. A few people asked me how I managed to get this information in my Notification Center. I believed it was a commonly used feature of iOS, but apparently I was wrong.

In this simple tutorial, I will show you how to use the Frequent Locations in iOS in order to find out information about your next destination. Privacy activists may want to skip this one.

Tweetbot for iOS 7 has been submitted to Apple for approval

Tweetbot users who have been waiting for an updated version of the app for iOS 7 can rejoice, as it has been submitted to Apple for approval.

In a blog post published yesterday on the company's website, Tapbots explain they were taken by surprise by iOS 7, and that the app required more than a fresh coat of paint. The upcoming version of Tweetbot for iPhone will be a brand new app that has been reworked from the ground up.

Although the developers don't mention anything about pricing in their blog post, it's safe to assume the new version of Tweetbot for iPhone will be a new app, which means you'll have to pay full price for it...

Following spam attack, Instagram ignores requests to fix broken features [updated]

Do you remember the Instagram smoothie spam attack that happened a few months ago? For those of you that are not aware of the situation, let me give you a brief history. On July 27 of this year, many users found out their account had been hacked into, and pictures of smoothies and juices with a link to some scam site disguised as the BBC were posted from those hacked accounts

Although Instagram never actually explained what happened that day, the company quickly took "actions to secure the accounts involved, and the posted photos are being deleted."

I was one of these people affected by the attack. I actually noticed my account had been hacked well before Instagram reacted. I did all I could do at the time, which was changing my password and making sure my account was not tied to any third party applications.

Since that day, I was never able to use Instagram to its full capabilities, and although I have emailed support several times clearly explaining my issue, I never heard back from them...

Why would Apple cut iPhone 5c production down?

That is twice in two weeks that we hear Apple has asked suppliers in China to cut down on production of the iPhone 5c. Although the first report from Chinese website C Technology came more as a rumor than an actual fact, today's WSJ report that echoes the same information definitely gives more credence to the claim.

This is the ideal news for Apple naysayers, downers, and other AAPL bears. Clearly, if Apple is cutting down orders on the iPhone 5c, then it must mean the device isn't selling as well as expected. But is that really the truth?

How to quickly post to Twitter or Facebook in iOS 7

One feature I really miss from iOS 6 is the Share Widget that would let you to add "Tap to Tweet" and "Tap to Post" buttons to Notification Center, allowing you to quickly send a tweet or post to Facebook.

When the first iOS 7 beta versions were released, we all thought the widgets would make their way to the final release, but they didn't. Today, we're going to show you a workaround that allows you to quickly send a tweet or post to Facebook in iOS 7...
