Benchmarks Suggest A5-Powered iPhone Would Support Much Faster Graphics

While we're all getting so uptight about whether the incoming iPhone will be of the 4S or 5 designation, and thus, whether it will receive a new design or not, MacRumors is there to bring us all back to reality.

The site's founder, Arnold Kim, has sought to remind us all that, while all the glitz and glamor of possible redesign is tempting, we're forgetting about the specs that will actually power the device.  lt's obvious that the next iPhone will feature Apple's impressive A5 chip architecture — the chip that currently powers the iPad 2.

That fact alone means we'll have a significantly faster iPhone to buy. Check out the impressive benchmark breakdown inside...

Apple iDevices Make More Money Than All of Microsoft’s Products Put Together

Asymco has released a report that compares Apple's and Microsoft's financial earnings. Asymco's Horace Dediu compares product revenue from both companies to determine who has better financial performance.

Microsoft has its mind-boggling array of Windows products, along with multiple enterprise solutions. And there's of course Windows Phone 7. Apple has all of its 'i' hardware, software, percentage cuts from the iTunes store, Mac sales, and peripherals.

So, who is the victor in the battle for revenue? You guessed it...

20% of iOS Game Devs Are Making 97% of the Money

We've all heard the stories of the kids who sat in their basements coding hit iOS games that go on to make hundreds of thousands of dollars. We've also heard about the likes of Rovio, a company that makes more money than it knows what to do with because some clever fellow decided that throwing birds at pigs would be fun.

There is money to be made in the App Store, so long as you're in the top 20% of iOS developers that are making a whopping 97% of the money that's out there...

Here’s How to Get Your Photos Out of Google’s Photovine App

We've told you about Google's Photovine iPhone app a couple of times before, and we've also given you the bad news that the search/ad giant is killing the app. Offering an interesting take on the Instagram idea, Photovine offered users the opportunity to take and share photographs that revolved around a common theme, or Vine. We liked it, you liked it.

Google, apparently, did not.

So with Photovine going the way of the dodo sooner rather than later, we've received an email from the application's developers explaining just how to get our photos out before the service goes offline once and for all...

“The Daily” iPad Newspaper Only Has 120,000 Readers

Poor old Rupert Murdoch really isn't having the best of times is he? First there was the whole phone hacking debacle that is still rumbling along in the UK, then the same accusations found their way across the pond to the United States, and now it appears his pet project is a dysmal failure.

That pet project is, of course, The Daily — an iPad-only publication aimed at bringing news into the 21st century. The problem is, nobody is reading it...

Apple to Stream iPhone Event At London’s Covent Garden Retail Store

With Apple holding an iPhone event next Tuesday, 4th of October, the world's tech press is gearing up for a busy week of announcements and reactions. Apple will be holding its event at its main campus in Cupertino, California, meaning that members of the press living outside the United States are out of luck.

Unless they happen to be in the UK, that is...

Apple Now Second ‘Coolest Brand’ in the UK

Not many people would argue against the assertion that Apple is indeed a 'cool' brand. iPhones, iPads, and iPods have propelled the Cupertino company into the hearts and minds of the buying public, but you know what is even cooler? An Aston Martin, at least for people in the UK...

Fortune’s New “All About Steve” eBook Covers 28 Years of Jobs

Disney Appmates Combine Toys with iPads

It's sometimes easy to forget that the iPad can be so much more than a fancy way to browse websites, answer emails, and make video calls – not that all those things aren't super cool. Disney is one company that is thinking outside the box, every bit of business gobbledegook that you can think of.

Disney's latest line of toys, which go by the love-it-or-hate-it name of Appmates, take the magic of the Cars 2 universe and brings it to the iPad. Games have been on the iPad since day one, but what they haven't had until now is little toys that interact with them...

Apple Refused ‘Multi-Touch’ Trademark

Way back on January 9th, 2007, Apple brought the original iPhone into existence, and the rest as they say, is history. On that very same day, the Cupertino company also filed for a trademark for Multi-Touch. And now, 4 years later, the United States Patent and Trademarks Office has made its decision on the application.

In what is a rare knock-back for Apple, the USPTO has decided that Apple was not the rightful owner of the Multi-Touch trademark and, unsurprisingly, the iPhone-making giant decided to appeal. That appeal has now been heard, and Tim Cook and co. are still out of luck...
