AKMessages can make using the stock Messages app faster

Wouldn’t it be nice if the keyboard interface opened automatically when tapping on a conversation thread in the stock Messages app? The developer of AKMessages must have thought so, because that’s the exact premise behind his new jailbreak tweak.

Like TypeTab, another tweak that we recently reviewed, AKMessages reduces the amount of friction in your day-to-day app activities. Have a look at our video walkthrough to see how it eliminates the need for you to perform a tap before you start typing within the Messages app.

TinyUmbrella can now save local SHSH blobs from device, and that includes iOS 8.1.2

Semaphore has been on a roll lately, as shown by the release of yet another TinyUmbrella beta build, and this version contains a significant new feature. You now have the ability to save SHSH blobs directly from a local device. This means that if you're on a jailbreakable firmware like iOS 8.1.2, you can save the 8.1.2 blobs even though Apple is no longer signing that firmware version.

Transition: new unlock animations for the Lock screen

Transition is an upcoming jailbreak tweak that adds a ton of new Lock screen-to-Home screen animated transitions to iOS. In all, there are over two-dozen animated transitions, and that doesn't include the random option that will allow you to enjoy a different transition with every unlock of your device. If you're looking to add some spice to the unlock animation on your iPhone, then Transition may be just what you need.

How to simulate the Apple Watch with augmented reality

Still baffled about how the Apple Watch will actually look on your wrist? There's a new app that provides what is arguably the best look yet (outside of trying on a real Apple Watch). The app, called ARWatch, uses augmented reality to simulate the presence of an Apple Watch on your wrist.

Hacker creates a software-only brute force tool for jailbroken devices

Well-known iOS jailbreak developer and hacker Majd Alfhaily was intrigued when read about MDSec's black box hardware brute force for iOS devices. The tool, which runs over a USB connection, tries every possible passcode combination in an attempt to unlock an iPhone secured with a simple passcode.

The downside of such a tool, is that each PIN entry takes approximately 40 seconds, so it could take more than 110 hours to brute force an iPhone. Majd, being the curious person that he is, devised a way to do it in a fraction of the time using only software. The only caveat, if you even want to call it that given what it does, is that the device must be able to run unsigned code, i.e., the device must be jailbroken.

New TinyUmbrella 8.2.0.41 beta released

TinyUmbrella, the tool that allows users to save SHSH blobs to be used for potential downgrades, has received another update. As we reported a few weeks ago, TinyUmbrella has made a significant comeback, and its developer, semaphore, is hopeful that downgrades to iOS firmware will be a real thing in the not so distant future.

With this in mind, semaphore is continuing to improve TinyUmbrella, and this latest beta version contains numerous fixes and iterative enhancements. If you still haven't saved your SHSH blobs, I advise you to stop what you're doing, download TinyUmbrella, and do so today.

How to get a 3D dock on OS X Yosemite

Do you miss OS X's 3D dock? OS X Yosemite finally did away with the 3D dock that's been present since the release of OS X Leopard, but you can get it back by using a simple application called cDock.

cDock includes, among a host of other features, the ability to theme the dock with over a dozen built-in themes. There are night themes, fullscreen themes, pink themes, and, of course, 3D themes. If you've been reminiscing about the "good ol' days", then you can easily relive the past with this handy little application.

The follow up to the original DockWare for iOS 7 devices, the sequel brings the ability to access the dock while within apps, hide the dock while on the Home screen, and invoke the dock using a handy Activator gesture.
