‘AppUpdateNotifier’ keeps you informed about App Store updates

First there was CydiaBulletin, and then there was the dead on arrival Aptdate. These jailbreak tweaks were conceptualized and/or created to provide notifications whenever an app or tweak had a pending updated waiting in Cydia.

Due to traffic concerns, it's unlikely that either of these tweaks will ever see the light of day. That's unfortunate, but it's the reality of the situation unless the developers can come up with a way that won't put too much stress on the repo servers.

But what about the App Store? This sort of functionality would be useful for pending App Store updates as well, would it not? Thankfully, someone was listening.

Check out our video walkthrough of AppUpdateNotifier, a jailbreak tweak that provides banner notifications when updates are waiting in the App Store...

How to replace Spotlight search with a web interface

I'm absolutely sure that I'm in the minority on my thoughts about iOS' Spotlight feature. I actually find it useful and helpful for launching apps, finding emails, contacts, etc.

Many of you, however, loathe Apple's inclusion of Spotlight; deeming it absolutely worthless, useless, and a waste of time and energy.

For those who fall into the latter category, then maybe this jailbreak tweak will make you happy. It's called WebSpot, and it allows you to completely replace Spotlight with a customizable web interface...

‘CmdTab’ lends an OS X inspired app switcher to the iPhone

Command+Tab is one of the most useful keyboard shortcuts known to Mac users. It allows you to quickly switch between applications using nothing more than a couple of keys on the keyboard.

CmdTab for the iPhone is a jailbreak tweak that is loosely based on what Mac users have been enjoying forever.

I say loosely based, because it doesn't actually allow you to select your running apps like on the Mac; instead, the developer decided to include a few predefined shortcuts that are accessible via an Activator action.

How does it perform? Take a look inside for the full details on video...

‘Attacher’ allows you to open any attachment in iMessage

Attacher is an alternative to the ReceiveAny tweak that we covered previously. It allows you to open previously unsupported files directly from within iMessage.

Although you can't use Attacher to send unsupported files, it's still a great free solution for those cases when someone insists on sending one to you...

‘PowerDown Clear’ allows you to multitask on your power down screen

PowerDown Clear is a free jailbreak tweak that allows you to multitask while on your power down screen.

All you need to do is hold the sleep/power button to power down your device like normal. Once the "slide to power off" message is presented, you will notice that you can still interact with whatever app is running in the background.
