‘WackaMonsta’ Sets the Bar High for Free iPhone Puzzle Games

DanLabGames has been a star player of shareware Mac games for years, creating such hits as Jammin' Racer and Wacky Mini Golf. Their recent release, WackaMonsta (iTunes Link)  is a universal game for the iOS devices. This game is their cry for battle in the iTunes App Store and they are seriously up for fight by offering a well-designed puzzle game at a bank-breaking price of nothing!

WackaMonsta is a match-three puzzle game that features all too familiar gameplay. The concept is pretty basic: colored bubbles will slowly scroll down the screen in different designs and you will fling bubbles from a cute little monster on the bottom to match three of the same color...

Following Verizon Wireless CEO, Dan Mead's remarks regarding the short lines on Verizon's iPhone 4 launch day, Mead also indicated that Apple will eventually offer mobile products that can use Verizon's Long Term Evolution (LTE) 4G network.

This lines up perfectly with the speculation earlier this month that Apple was working on an LTE iPhone...

‘Pirates vs Ninjas vs Zombies vs Pandas’ Gives Angry Birds a Fun for Their Money

If you loved Angry Birds, you'll definitely love Pirates vs Ninjas vs Zombies vs Pandas (PvNvZvP) (iTunes Link) by PAN Vision AB. This physics-puzzler is an "inspired" version of the popular Angry Birds Series. The mechanics and gameplay are essentially the same but PvNvZvP offers fans of the genre an interesting twist with loads of fun.

PvNvZvP will feature six exceptional campaigns packed with challenging levels. The campaign will pit Pirates, Ninjas, Zombies, or Pandas against each other in a delightful duel to the end. Similar to Angry Birds, you are armed with a cannon and must launch the poor little characters at rickety structures to eliminate all the enemies from the screen...

Apple Planning to Improve Battery Life By Increasing Cell Density

With newer, more powerful dual and quad-core processors being introduced, these processors require more and more energy to operate. Apple realizes this and is looking into possible resolutions for better battery life while maintaining the same slim and sleek profile the iPhone 4 currently has.

Cupertino has filed a new patent with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office titled “Increasing Energy Density in Rechargeable Lithium Battery Cells,” which does just that...

WhiteD00r Brings iOS 4.2 To iPhone 2G/3G And iPod Touch 1G/2G

As many of you know, with the release of iOS 4.0 Apple discontinued support for the iPhone 2G as well as the iPod Touch 1G. This left iPhone 2G and iPod Touch 1G stuck on iOS 3.1.3 for life. Furthermore, while Apple did end up upgrading the iPhone 3G (which has the same amount of RAM/processor as the iPhone 2G), 3G owners experienced a great deal of problems after updating to 4.0. The OS was incredibly slow and was barely usable.

After various reports and angry iPhone 3G users, Apple began to look into the issue and stated the issues would be resolved in iOS 4.2.1. When iOS 4.2.1 came around, performance had been improved on the iPhone 3G, but it was still quite slow. Most users decided to downgrade/remain on iOS 3.1.3.

Enable Unicode Symbols With Vmoji

Here comes another tweak! Although this tweak has been available for jailbroken iPhones for quite some time now, I seemed to stumble upon it earlier this week and found it pretty cool!

With this tweak you'll be able to use unicode symbols to spice up your social life. How does it work?  Simply hold down the 1-5 number keys and you will have access to universally viewable symbols that can be added to your text messages, tweets, and more.

The best part is, unlike emoji which are only viewable on some devices, the unicode symbols in Vmoji will display correctly on any mobile device or computer. The tweak is also free of charge, so that's another thumbs up...

iPhone 4 Named “Phone of the Year” At MWC

While Mobile World Congress (MWC) is the world's largest exhibition for the mobile industry, they also host a Global Mobile Awards ceremony as well. The purpose of the Global Mobile Awards is to give credit to the best mobile companies, devices, and software.

This year's "Phone of the Year" winner, was (unsurprisingly) none other than Apple's iPhone 4. The GSMA nominees for "Phone of the Year" included the iPhone 4, the Android-powered Samsung Galaxy S and HTC Desire, along with the LG Optimus 7 running Windows Phone 7 and the BlackBerry Torch 9800. Here's what the judges' had to say:

Apple Posts Differences Between CDMA and GSM iPhone 4

Yesterday, we posted a data speed comparison, comparing AT&T and Verizon networks. While Verizon seemed to do better than AT&T in every way (in the San Francisco area, at least), it looks like the Verizon iPhone has some shortcomings as well.

Although we missed it, it seems that Apple had posted a comparison chart last week, detailing the differences between the GSM and CDMA versions of the iPhone. This comparison chart solely focuses on how the GSM and CDMA versions of the iPhone handle calls...

How to Update Cydia in the Background

If you're not the type to stick around while Cydia updates, then we have a solution for you. A few new additions have appeared recently in Cydia that will allow you to update the cache that Cydia uses without actually running the app.

There are a couple of apps that perform this duty, and both of them run as SBSettings toggles. This makes it pretty easy to update Cydia while you check your email and then quickly load up Cydia to get your updates and new packages.

Apple Warns Developers Against “Cheating the System”

Following yesterday's announcement of the new in-app subscription program and policies, Apple has also updated their iOS App Store review guidelines.

Apple has strictly stated that developers who try to "cheat the system" (such as tricking the review process, stealing data from users, stealing another developer’s work, or manipulating the ratings) will have all their apps removed from the App Store and additionally, they will be permanently expelled from the developer program...

Just when you thought there were enough iPhone 5 rumors for the day, another rumor drops. The latest rumor comes courtesy of Digitimes.

According to Digitimes, Apple's next generation iPhone 5 will sport a 4-inch display, increasing from the current 3.5-inch display. Digitimes claims that the change comes to better compete with current Google Android handsets from HTC, Samsung, and Motorola...
