Apple rumored to be developing new Face ID system that works with masks without relying on Apple Watch

The global landscape has changed quite a bit over the last year and some change. Masks are now common place, and that means Apple's reliance on a facial recognition biometric system for its iPhone lineup has proven slightly more tedious than it should be. However, Apple did make a workaround -- but only if you use an Apple Watch. Now, according to a new rumor, Apple's working on something a bit more straightforward.

Individual charged with breaking into thousands of iCloud accounts to try and find explicit photos of women

iCloud Login Screen Web

Apple bills iCloud as a safe place to store a user's digital footprint, from documents to files to just about everything else that can be stored in the cloud. However, some folks out there in the wild will do just about anything to find personal, revealing photos of others. Like one man who has apparently broken into thousands of iCloud accounts on the hunt for explicit photos.

Apple pushes back against South Korean bill that would bar Apple and Google from requiring developers use their payment systems

There is a lot of attention on how Google and Apple handle their respective digital storefronts. Some of that attention is all about making changes -- especially when it comes to Apple's App Store. And it looks like one bill from a major economy could set the stage for future change across the board. Which Apple is obviously not too pleased with.

Nomad launches new Leather Skins and Screen Protectors for iPhone 12 lineup

If you prefer to keep your iPhone free of a case, but still want to rock some amount of protection from accidents, then Nomad may have just the options for you. Today, the company is unveiling and launching some new accessories that will help you keep things pretty minimal on your phone, but still offer up some protection.

Nomad is launching not only a lineup of new Leather Skins for the iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro, and iPhone 12 Pro Max, but also some brand new Screen Protectors that are meant to work perfectly well with the new skins and large lineup of cases for Apple's smartphones, too. This won't offer up total body protection, so keep that in mind, but you should be able to avoid scrapes and scratches on both the front and back of your iPhone 12 with these new accessories installed.

Apple Watch Series 7 may come in larger 41mm and 45mm sizes

In the near future, Apple is more than likely going to host an early September media event to show off a range of new devices. While most of the attention will obviously be put on the new iPhone lineup, that's not all we're going to see if the rumors pan out. For instance, we're probably going to get a new Apple Watch --the oft-rumored Apple Watch Series 7-- and Apple may welcome brand new sizes to the lineup.

Some Apple employees organize under the #AppleToo banner to share stories of harassment or discrimination

The collective body of Apple's workforce is quite different than it was 30 years ago. And while the company's culture is still mostly intact, there are some waves being made by many current employees. Many want a more transparent company as a whole, while some simply want their voices to be heard in what they believe is a vacuum. Still, others are raising concerns for potential pay inequality within the company. All in all, it's the beginning motions of what could lead to even bigger change down the road.

Apple TV+ drama ‘The Tragedy of Macbeth’ from Joel Coen, starring Denzel Washington and Frances McDormand, will close out the 65th BFI London Film Festival

In May of this year, it was confirmed that Apple TV+ had secured the premiere for the upcoming drama The Drama of Macbeth from director and writer Joel Coen (No Country for Old Men, Hail, Caesar!), based on the original play written by William Shakespeare. At the time, Apple confirmed that it was once again tapping into its partnership with production outfit A24 to bring the film to not only the small screen via Apple TV+, but also some big screens, too.

Recent informal internal employee survey indicates Apple’s goals for pay equity may not be on target

Earlier this month, a report revealed that some higher-ups at Apple have been putting in a concerted effort to shut down internal, informal employee surveys that are being distributed throughout the company. In that report, the focal point was a survey that was being distributed trying to shed more details on the salaries of those working for Apple. Some employees believe there is pay inequality within the company, despite Apple's claims to the contrary.

Apple TV+ shares official trailer for upcoming second season of ‘The Morning Show’ ahead of September 17 premiere

It has been a long time coming, and a long time in the works, but we're finally about to see the second season of one of Apple TV+'s launch shows. And in an effort to help build up some attention for the upcoming premiere of the sophomore season of the drama, Apple today has shared the first official trailer. And unlike the first teaser trailer, we get a better feel for the stories that will unfold this season.

Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney demand Ted Lasso’s delicious biscuits in compensation following joke about ownership of Wrexham AFC

Ted Lasso can be described in a lot of different ways, like the fact the Apple TV+ series is aggressively optimistic. Which means to say that while there are plenty of jokes thrown around in the writing, nothing about the show is particularly "scathing." Especially not when it comes to real-world celebrities -- or the football clubs they might own. But apparently the comedy crossed the line in a recent episode, and now Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool, Free Guy) and Rob McElhenney (Mythic Quest, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia) are looking for compensation.

Tetris Beat is now available in Apple Arcade

The Apple Arcade has grown quite a bit since its initial launch, with the library of titles slowly expanding on a semi-regular basis. Apple now offers more than 200 games in the roster at this point, and it doesn't appear that the company is going to slow down anytime soon. And today sees one more joining the list.
