Steve Jobs Steps Down as Apple CEO, Tim Cook Steps In

We're very sorry to say that Steve Jobs is stepping down as CEO of Apple, effective immediately. He is going to be replaced by Apple's COO Tim Cook, who has been filling in for Jobs over the last several months.

In January of this year, Jobs took his second leave of absence from the company in as many years, due to ongoing health problems. He's suffered from off-and-on issues since mid-2004, when he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer...

iPhone Design Flaw Uncovered

You don't have to spend a lot of time with an iOS device to figure out that Apple pays serious attention to detail. This is true not only for its hardware, but software as well.

Would You Use a Solar-Powered iPad?

Apple's iDevice-related patents receive more attention online than those of any other product. And if you haven't figured out how important patents are in this industry, just take a look around.

While patents in general can be boring legal documents, the ones coming out of Cupertino can hint at future products and features. Take this next filing for example. It describes a method of solar-powered charging for electronic devices...

Apple Wins in Dutch Court, Blocks Samsung Phone Shipments

The Apple-Samsung lawsuit has been grabbing headlines left and right over the last few months. The action has especially heated up over the past few days, as Samsung tried to prove to a Dutch court that it's not copying Apple's products.

But even with their Kubrick evidence, the judge found the Korean company to be in violation of Apple's patents. The ruling bans Samsung from selling several devices, including the Galaxy S and Galaxy S II, in the European Union...

You've more than likely heard of McAfee. The security experts have been blocking viruses on PCs for years, and are now dabbling in mobile research. The firm just announced the results of their recent study on mobile malware.

We saw a similar analysis by Symantec a few months ago. And surprise surprise, the results haven't changed that much. iOS still seems to be the most secure mobile operating system available...

The ongoing court battle between Apple and Samsung has been nothing short of entertaining. From Samsung's request to see the iPhone 5, to Apple's European Union injunction, the case has been full of action. And it's not over by any means.

The latest twist in the copycat lawsuit takes the entertainment to a whole new level. Since Apple claims that Samsung copied its tablet design with the Galaxy Tab 10.1, Samsung is claiming Apple copied science fiction...

With Apple in an ongoing court battle against Samsung, the company has turned to other manufacturers to fill the void. And after extensively testing displays from Sharp and LG, it sounds like it's finally picked a replacement (or two)...

Sprint Will be Getting the iPhone 5

As of right now, the iPhone is only available on two major wireless carriers here in the United States. AT&T, which was originally the sole carrier of the iPhone, and now Verizon both offer the device.

Rumors have been circulating over the past several months suggesting that Apple will finally extend the iPhone to both T-Mobile and Sprint this Fall, but so far there has been no official announcement.

Now, The Wall Street Journal has decided to chime in on the matter, and is reporting that a Sprint-branded iPhone is a lock for this October...

The Evolution of the iPhone [Infographic]

When Steve Jobs and company first announced the original iPhone, they said that they were going after 1% of the smartphone market. At the time, there were around 100 million smartphone sales globally, so 1% would have been one million units.

As most of you know by now, Apple has far exceded that goal. In the last quarter alone it shipped over 20 million smartphones. Not bad for only 4 years and 4 handsets into the market. But what's next?

Should Apple Sue Gawker Media for Gizmodo Story?

Verizon to Offer $20 Data Plan, Serves up 300MB per Month

In this day in age it seems like carriers are more focused on "streamlining" their wireless plans rather than introducing new ones. In fact, AT&T followed up its unlimited data plan-ban by getting rid of its $10 SMS package.

Verizon, on the other hand, has just introduced a new wireless plan to serve up data for low-end customers. The $20 per month plan will give users 300MB of data per month, and is available now through September 30. Read on for more details...
