The best apps for the Touch Bar on the new MacBook Pro

If you just picked up a new 2016 MacBook Pro, you may be wondering: aside from the stock apps, what are other great apps that take advantage of that shiny new Touch Bar? While apps are constantly being updated, we've gone ahead and picked out some of our favorites that are currently available.

25 tips & tricks for the MacBook Pro Touch Bar

Touch Bar is a versatile OLED bar at the top of your keyboard that replaces the function keys with software-based buttons that change based on what app you're in and what you're doing. In this post, we'll mention twenty-five awesome things you can do with the Touch Bar on your MacBook Pro.

FabFocus kinda brings Portrait Mode to other iPhones

Portrait Mode was on of the standout features of the iPhone 7 Plus. It intelligently uses both cameras in tandem to create a 3D image map of your subject, then in real time, applying a blurring/bokeh effect to the background of your photo. That's something would normally require a high-end DSLR with a wider aperture lens to achieve. While the result wasn't as good as a professional camera, it is a great effect with promising results. Since Portrait Mode does require the two cameras, anyone without an iPhone 7 Plus was left out of all fun. Enter FabFocus.

CallKit issues reportedly force Apple to put some call-directory extensions reviews and approvals on hold

If you've tried any of the call blockers, or spam identifiers in iOS 10, you've surely been disappointed. I've tested out a number of them and they really haven't seemed to do anything at all. Most of the time not blocking, or even identifying calls. It appears we may now know why.

It looks to be an underlying issue with CallKit, Apple's new framework that powers these types of apps.

Why I’m excited for AirPods

There has been a lot of takes on Apple’s new wireless headphones, the AirPods. Some people brush them off as just expensive and unnecessary. Others insist you’re going to lose them instantly. However, after Apple’s keynote, the AirPods may be what I am looking forward to most.

Hands On: iLDOCK Kickstarter looks to add a headphone jack to the iPhone 7

The iPhone 7 has encountered much ire in response to the lack of a headphone jack. Since the launch, there have been a bevy of companies vying for the ultimate accessory to "fix" the iPhone 7 by bringing back the headphone jack. iLDOCK is yet another accessory trying to fill that void.

Apple creates their own accessory for converting the Lightning port into a 3.5mm audio jack. The issue comes up when you want to listen to audio, and charge your phone simultaneously. Newly launched Kickstarter project iLDOCK looks to fix this annoying problem. The small aluminum adapter plugs into your phone to bring you the old 3.5mm audio port, as well as a female lightning port.

Top 20 iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus features [Video]

The iPhone 7 has finally started arriving in (some) people's hands merely two week after being unveiled. It wasn't the full-blown makeover many people had hoped for but there are lots of notable changes to Apple's flagship phone.

In our video overview, I take a look at 20 of the top new features for Apple iPhone 7. Some are major upgrades, like the iPhone 7 Plus's dual camera setup, while others are small and easy to overlook like the wider color gamut on the Retina Display.

Resources discovered in iOS 10 suggest cellular data toggle possibly coming to Control Center

iOS 10 has a lot going on. There are a lot of enhancements that we've covered so far, and many more we haven't. New features aside, many people have been digging through iOS 10 beta in search for unannounced features, or upcoming devices.

Thanks to iOS developer Andrew Wiik, we have another idea of what might be coming in a future iOS 10 beta: the sought-after cellular data toggle in Control Center.

iOS 10 tidbit: unsubscribe from mailing lists from the Mail app

Lately, I feel like all I get is spam email. This is very frustrating and I've taken to using apps like Unroll.Me that make it easy to unsubscribe from the bevy of email lists I've somehow wound up on. That being said, it appears Apple has baked the ability to unsubscribe from mailing lists straight from the native Mail app in iOS 10.

No, widgets haven’t been removed from iOS 10’s Notification Center

Widgets are a big deal in iOS 10. In addition to having new capabilities such as increased support for 3D Touch and the ability to play—and even stream—video inline, they now have a dedicated side panel on the Lock screen. Now, some people have voiced concerns about widgets having been removed entirely from the Notification Center on iOS 10.

Luckily, that's not entirely true.

Dark Mode resources discovered in iOS 10

One of the most circulated rumors for iOS 10 was the inclusion of a dark mode. However, the WWDC 2016 keynote came and went without any mention of the expected feature. After digging through the iOS 10 beta, it appears maybe Apple didn't neglect dark mode after all.
