Meowbrek2 re-jailbreaking utility for palera1n adds puaf_landa support, now nearly out of beta

For those who’ve been following the meowbrek2 project by @dora2ios, it may be of particular interest that the developer has published a fourth beta build in the form of meowbrek2 v1.1.4-beta.

meowbrek2 v1.1.4-beta announced.

Announced in a post shared via the project’s dedicated Discord server Tuesday evening, we can gather that meowbrek2 v1.1.4-beta brings with it the following changes:

– Support for puaf_landa
– Fixed patchfinder for early A8 devices
– Compressed basebin

For those unaware, meowbrek2 is a re-jailbreaking utility that makes use of the kernel file descriptor (kfd) exploit to turn any semi-tethered palera1n-jailbroken device running iOS or iPadOS 15.0-15.7.2 into a semi-untethered jailbroken device. This means that it can let you re-jailbreak your palera1n’d device without a computer going forward.

The latest version appears to implement the puaf_landa method for the kfd exploit, which is generally used to support more firmware versions. The developer hasn’t expressly mentioned whether the newfangled puaf_landa support includes meowbrek2 support for newer firmware versions than iOS 15.7.2, but it is entirely possible that only the same firmware as before is supported.

One thing that we can gather from the announcement is that if testing goes well, meowbrek2 will come out of beta following this release. This speaks to the utility’s dependability as it has been available for public beta testing for nearly three weeks.

Given the utility’s usefulness, it’s wonderful to see that the developer is continuing to improve upon it. After all, a semi-untethered jailbreak is always better than a semi-tethered jailbreak, and meowbrek2 answers that call for palera1n users who are using older A9-A11 devices.
