Set & Rep Counter, Tayo rituals, Mosaic Journal, and other apps to check out this weekend

Well, well, well, would you look at that? It’s the weekend again, and that means it’s time for another Apps of the Week roundup! This week we have some awesome picks for you, including a fitness tracking app for weight lifters, a powerful breathwork app, and a digital photo journal that sends you physical prints monthly. And as always, we’ve selected a great game for you to check out.

Set & Rep Counter

It’s not quite the end of December yet, but it’s never too late to get started on next year’s New Year’s resolutions, and if they involve weight lifting at all, this app is here to help. Set & Rep counter is an easy to use, no-frills tracker for your weight lifting goals. You can log sets with a single tap, perform weight calculations on the fly, and view your progress over time. You also have rest timers, auto weight increases, the ability to import and share custom workout programs, and all the other features you’d want in an app like this. It definitely has a cookie-cutter ‘template’ vibe, and a mysterious ‘Pro’ subscription option, but hey there is enough here to warrant checking out.

Tayo rituals

Speaking of bettering yourself, another interesting app I’ve come across is Tayo rituals. I wish someone would have talked the developer into a better name, maybe a single-word title related to the app’s use-case (breathing) like ‘Exhale’ or ‘Respire’ or ‘Wheezy’—I’m just spitballing here. Anyway, as I’ve already revealed, this app is all about the power of breath. I know we’ve had a few of these lately, but this one seems to take things to a whole new level. From the app’s description: ” We’ll build a daily practice, journey into altered states of mind, learn to regulate the nervous system, geek out over the science breath […]” Yeah, you had me at ‘altered states of mind. I’m in.

Mosaic Journal

Ok, I know what you’re thinking: Cody’s clearly on a self-help kick, and this is some kind of mental health journal. NOPE! Mosaic is actually a photo journal that automatically sends you prints every month. Seriously. So if you go on vacation or encounter a major life event, you can submit a photo to your Mosaic Journal, and at the end of the month, you will get a physical print of it along with other photos. This really kind of takes the process of selecting photos and ordering prints—a major hurdle to getting physical copies of your photos—and automates it for you, so you don’t even have to think about it. You hear that scrapbookers? We are SO back!

Urso: Mindful Virtual Pet

Yep, we’re back to the self-help stuff! I honestly didn’t intend to do all of these apps together, it just sort of happened. I mean, our featured game last week was ‘Hitman: Blood Money,’ so I think we could use some balancing out here. Anyway, Urso is a game that helps you take your mental well-being to the next level. In it you embark on an epic spacey journey to help Urso explore uncharted realms and build his new home among the stars. Features include collecting and adopting virtual pets called Jinnies, customizable and upgradeable characters and islands, and of course the game is packed with science-backed techniques for alleviating stress, improving sleep, and regaining focus. Maybe I’ll play it back-to-back with that Hitman game—kill a guy, meditate, kill a guy, meditate—sort of like doing a sauna and a cold plunge.
