As reported by MacMagazine.br, you can no longer sign up for the$5/month voice-only plan, and it has been removed from Apple’s page listing all Apple Music tiers.

“Beginning in November, Apple will discontinue the Apple Music Voice plan,” the company confirmed in a support document. If you’re on this plan, Apple will turn off auto-renewal so you don’t get charged. Current subscribers can continue using this plan for the duration of their final billing cycle.

The company provided no reasons for the removal beyond stating in the support document that current Apple Music plans “already work seamlessly with Siri,” promising to “continue to optimize this experience.”

The Apple Music Voice plan launched with little fanfare in the United States on October 24, 2021, offering limited features and Siri-based navigation.

It’s almost as if Apple wanted to keep this subscription as low-profile as possible, never bothering to advertise it actively. And for a good reason—at just $5/month, Apple Music Voice was the most affordable streaming plan across all Apple services.

At $5 per month, Apple Music Voice was the most affordable subscription plan for individuals. The low price came with some restrictions, like restricting all interactions with your music to Siri’s voice commands to request songs, playlists and radio stations.

Apple subscriptions getting more expensive

The change comes after Apple raised subscription prices for Arcade ($5 → $7), TV+ ($7 → $10) and News+ ($10 → $13). The Apple Music Individual plan also increased prices by $1 to $11/month, while the Family tier jumped $2 to $17/month.

At the same time, the Apple Music annual subscription increased $10 to $109/year. The price hikes went into effect for new subscribers on October 24, 2023. Existing users saw them reflected on their next bill.

Apple offers a free one-month trial for new subscribers and treats everyone who purchases eligible AirPods, Beats and HomePods to six free months of Apple Music.
