ControlBar is a new music menu bar app for iPhones running iOS 17

If you’re interested in a new way to control your music playback starting with iOS 17, then a new app called ControlBar by iOS developer @Taher_Dev might be of interest to you.

ControlBar app.

This is an extension for your iPhone that can be had from Apple’s App Store that provides a specialized bar for controlling your music player. The ControlBar interface appears both at the bottom of the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island.

As you can see in the screenshot examples above, ControlBar is a unique add-on that provides useful media-based actions such as:

  • Shuffle
  • Seek Forward and Back (5 or 15 seconds)
  • Change Shuffle and Repeat mode
  • Change Playlists
  • Volume
  • And more…

ControlBar adds an app to your Home Screen where you can effortlessly customize your ControlBar so that you control what does and doesn’t appear on it. With this, you can tailor it to your needs and improve your user experience in ways that may differ from someone else’s ideal setup.

The app also allows you to do things such as colorizing the ControlBar background color, changing the tint color, and tweaking the button background color, among other things. A live preview appears in the app so you can see your changes in real time before applying them.

ControlBar is currently certified to work with both Apple Music and Spotify, however the developer warns that some functions may require an Apple Music subscription Spotify Premium subscription to work.

Those interested in giving ControlBar a try can purchase it right now for $0.99 from the App Store. Alternatively, you can try your luck at winning a free copy as we post promo codes on X over the next several days. The developer has graciously offered to give 10 copies away.
