Whal, Finale To Do, Memento Mori, and other apps to check out this weekend

Y’all know what time it is! It’s the weekend, and that means it’s time for another Apps of the Week roundup! This week we have some great choices for you, including a sleek portfolio manager, a powerful daily planner, and a useful but morbid Lock Screen widget. And as always, we’ve selected a great game for you to check out this weekend.

Whal: Manage Investments

You got a guy? Well Whal is for the folks that don’t “have a guy.” The app offers a new approach to managing your portfolio, allowing you to view your top investments, across all of your accounts, and stay up-to-date with the latest market trends and news. Stop switching between various investment apps or making spreadsheets — check out Whal today.

Finale To Do: Tasks & Habits

Finale is an older To Do app, but it just got a big upgrade, and a cursory search shows we haven’t covered it on here before, so here we go. I’m essentially a magpie when it comes to todo apps, meaning if it looks good, I flock to it. That’s how I stumbled across Finale — it looks awesome. It’s also packed full of features, and cross-platform, so it’s definitely worth checking out if you’re in the market.

Memento Mori

Ok so this is a weird one. This app could either have a profound impact on your life, or it could really creep/gross you out. It’s essentially a countdown clock for your remaining years, in the form of a widget. It shows progress bars for weeks, months and years you have left on your estimated life clock, to demonstrate how valuable (and limited) your time really is. It has widgets for both your Home and Lock screens, which is nice, but I do think the $2 price tag is too steep.

Coffee Golf

“A small daily golf game to go with your morning coffee.” What a cool concept. It’s a very minimal golf game, with delightful graphics, and I love the idea of playing a new, short course every day during your morning wake-up time. I’m sorry there’s not a cool back story, or a bunch of neat features to rattle off, but this seems like a nice relaxing game to check out this weekend — plus it arrives just in time for the U.S. Open!
