Unpluq, WeatherMind, Shopminders, and other apps to check out this weekend

It’s the weekend again, and you know what that means! It’s time for another episode of our Apps of the Week roundup. This week we have some great picks for you, including an app to help you stop using apps (oh the irony), a weather app for mental health, and a shopping list app with a twist. And as always, we’ve selected a fun new game for you to check out.

Unpluq: Reduce Screen Time

Here is an app…that promises to help you stop using so many apps. Irony aside, Unpluq says it can help you save more than 78 minutes per day of screen time. I know Apple already has a free app for monitoring your screen time, but this takes it a step further by actually blocking the (non-productive) apps you used most, during the times you use them most. What would you do with an extra hour and a half per day? Learn to cook? Read more? Probably not, but the idea is kind of romantic, right?

WeatherMind: Health & Forecast

Did you know that weather can affect your mood and mental health? That’s why cloudy, rainy weather is referred to as ‘gloomy,’ and why people are always so excited for the summer months. The app WeatherMind takes that concept and tries to help you better understand the impact the weather has on your health by combining tailored forecasts with self-assessment and journaling. It also has breathing exercises, in-depth statistics, allergy information, and much more. What a unique idea!

Shopminders

I don’t think anyone was clamoring for a new shopping list app, but Shopminders thinks it has what it takes to break into the super saturated market. It’s more for recurring shopping lists than it is for one-off trips to the grocery store — simply organize the products you regularly buy in lists, and when it’s time to replenish one of them, the app will remind you. There are tons of organizational features, and you can share and assign shopminders to friends and family. I mean that’s kind of compelling, right?

Rytmos

Rytmos is a relaxing puzzle game, in which you can actually create music by solving puzzles. You travel from planet to planet, solving puzzles, unlocking new musical toys, and discovering new music. There’s really not that much else to the game itself, you just kind of have to see it to understand it. There’s a great demo video in the App Store showing the game in action. It just seems like a great, chill game to relax with this weekend, while laying on the couch or out by the pool.
