iPhone 16 Pros could get bigger displays, maxing out at 6.9 inches

Apple is predicted to make the iPhone 16 Pros’ screen sizes even bigger next year, with the flagship iPhone 16 Pro Max going from 6.7 to 6.9 inches.

  • The iPhone 16 Pro could see its display grow from 6.1 inches to around 6.3 inches diagonally, while the iPhone 16 Pro Max should go from 6.7 to 6.9 inches.
  • If true, these would be the largest iPhone screens yet.
  • Larger displays suggest higher resolutions=more content with less scrolling.

iPhone 16 Pro Max could grow to 6.9 inches

Display Supply Chain Consultants analyst Ross Young claims that next year’s iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max models will get 6.3 and 6.9-inch displays.

Joe Rossignol, MacRumors:

Young informed MacRumors that the 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch display sizes are rounded up. In response to our news story, Young said he will reveal the actual sizes to two decimal places during his speech at the Display Week conference in Los Angeles on May 23. Young did not indicate if the standard iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus will also have larger displays.

While Young has a decent track record predicting information about unreleased Apple products, his predictions can be off in terms of timelines and specific information, like exact screen sizes, resolutions, etc.

We currently don’t know much about next year’s iPhone lineup. However, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman did note recently that Apple might introduce the rumored solid-state buttons with haptic feedback on the iPhone 16 Pros.

Phones continue to get bigger

Since it added a Plus-sized iPhone to the mix with the iPhone 6 Plus back in 2014, each new year seemingly brought bigger iPhone screens.

All Plus-sized iPhones are 5.5 inches, but that changed with the iPhone X. With that device, Apple killed the huge “forehead” at the top and “chin” at the bottom, freeing up space for blowing up the screen without making the entire device bigger.

Today’s iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max feature 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch displays. As for this year’s upcoming iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, those models should have the same exact screen sizes as the iPhone 14 Pros.
