Apple and Major League Soccer (MLS), on June 14, 2022, announced a ten-year deal to bring streams of all matches to the Apple TV app, starting in 2023. Some MLS matches are free, with an optional subscription available to unlock everything.
As of February 1, 2023, two MLS Season Pass subscriptions are available through Apple’s TV app in more than 100 countries and regions: $15/month and $99/season. However, if you happen to be an Apple TV+ subscriber, you’ll be treated to lower fees: $13/month or $79/season. Follow the steps below to subscribe to MLS.
How to subscribe to MLS Season Pass in Apple’s TV app
To purchase your MLS Season Pass subscription, hit the MLS tab in the Apple TV app and click Subscribe to choose between a monthly or season pass.
- Open the TV app on your Apple device, smart TV or another supported device.
- In the TV app, select the MLS tab.
- Hit the Subscribe button or try playing paid content.
- Click Subscribe next to Monthly or Season.
- Authorize your purchase with Face ID, Touch ID or your Apple ID password.
You are now subscribed to MLS through Apple. Both the monthly and season subscription includes every match for the 2023 season, including playoffs, but you’ll save by paying upfront for the entire season versus month-to-month.
How to cancel my MLS subscription?
To manage or cancel your subscription, open the settings interface for your device and click your profile picture at the top. Next, choose Subscriptions and select your MLS subscription in the list. In the subscription details that will pop up, you’ll see details about your subscription, including the renewal date. Choose Cancel Subscription if you’d like to cancel it.
What’s included in an MLS subscription?
An MLS subscription gives you access to all regular-season matches, including live broadcasts and on-demand content, the playoffs and the Leagues Cup matches, without blackouts or geographic content restrictions. Hundreds of MLS Next Pro and MLS Next games are also included in the subscription. Additionally, subscribers can access a show featuring highlights of all daily games. All games are streamed in English and Spanish languages and have in-stadium commentary teams.
Can I set my favorite club to appear in Up Next?
Yes. Browse dedicated pages for your favorite clubs in the MLS section of the TV app, then hit the Add to Up Next button. All matches from this club will now appear in your Up Next queue.
Can I keep up with real-time scores via Live Activities?
If you have iOS 16 installed on your iPhone, you can follow scores as they happen on your lock screen without having to open the TV app. Simply add your favorite club to the Up Next queue, then real-time scores will appear through the Live Activities feature on your iPhone.
What MLS matches are free?
Select pre-season content and specific matches will be available for free. The MLS 2023 season kicks off on Saturday, February 25—all of the games during the opening weekend will be available to stream for free in the TV app. More info on free matches is available at mlssoccer.com/schedule.
Do I need to be an Apple TV+ subscriber to buy MLS Season Pass?
No, your MLS subscription is available to both Apple TV+ subscribers and non-subscribers. However, Apple TV+ subscribers are treated to a discounted price of $13/month or $79/season.
What about MLS Season ticket holders?
MLS Season ticket holders automatically get access to the MLS Season Pass in the TV‌ app, so there’s no need to subscribe. Clubs will send MLS season ticket holders vouchers for one free annual subscription.
Can an MLS subscription be shared?
Yes, your MLS Season Pass subscription can be shared without additional charge with up to five outer people through Apple’s Family Sharing features. Check out Apple’s website for more information on Family Sharing and how to set it up.
Does Siri respond to MLS queries?
Yes. You can ask Siri questions about MLS scores, schedules, standings, club rosters, and player statistics on your Apple device.
What devices support MLS subscriptions?
Your MLS Season Pass subscription is available on any device that supports Apple’s TV app, including iPhones, iPads, Macs, Apple TVs, gaming consoles from Sony and Microsoft, and compatible smart TVs and set-top boxes. MLS content on Apple Maps‌
Apple and MLS have also partnered to enhance the experience with themed content on Apple Maps. MLS clubs like Atlanta United, Nashville SC and Toronto FC have created custom Match Day Guides on Apple Maps, with stadium information, recommendations for local bars and restaurants, etc. Fans can also enjoy detailed three-dimensional landmarks of MLS Stadiums like Red Bull Arena in Harrison, New Jersey, Seattle’s Lumen Field and Audi Field in Washington, D.C.
