Latest 14 and 16-inch MacBook Pro includes color-matched MagSafe charging cable

As someone who purchased a Space Gray-colored M1 Pro-equipped 16-inch MacBook Pro in 2022, I was somewhat surprised to find that the provided MagSafe charging cable wasn’t color-matched, and I wasn’t alone.

2023 14 and 16-inch MacBook Pros include a color-matched MagSafe charging cable in the box.

But with today’s 14 and 16-inch MacBook Pro refresh embedding new M2 Pro and M2 Max chips under the hoods of Apple’s latest notebooks, that’s a small but important detail that the Cupertino-based company finally appears to have addressed.

Indeed, both the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models that Apple announced today include a color-matched MagSafe charging cable. For purchasers of Silver MacBook Pro notebooks, that means the same White woven cable braid and Silver tip that shipped with last year’s refresh; but for Space Gray buyers, there’s a new MagSafe charging cable to suit.

Both the metal tip of the MagSafe cable and the woven wire braid receive a Space Gray makeover, making it look that much nicer when used alongside a Space Gray MacBook Pro.

The USB-C to MagSafe cable still measures two meters long and operates exactly in the same fashion as those shipped with older MacBook Pro notebooks. It plugs directly into the included USB-C power adapter by one end, and to the proprietary MagSafe port on the MacBook Pro by the other, delivering up to 140W of power.

Apple first started color-matching its Mac-centric MagSafe charging cables after the MacBook Air refresh in the middle of 2022.

For anyone that is upset because their older MacBook Pro didn’t include a color-matched MagSafe charging cable, or that may need a replacement in the future, Apple sells them separately on their website for $49. Users are free to pick from one of four colors, including Space Gray, Midnight, Starlight, and Silver.
