Pixelmator Pro 3.0 launches with 200+ design templates

The team says that the new design templates make it a cinch to create consistent visuals across different platforms and mediums. These brand templates are essentially collections of templates created using the same design language.

They’re easily personalized and grouped into twelve categories covering a bunch of different formats like posters, social media posts, resumes, web, print and more.

“To make it easier to create consistent visuals across different platforms and mediums, we’re introducing brand templates, which are collections of templates created using the same design language,” the team explains.

All templates and mockups are customizable and come with built-in color presets. Available in the new Document Colors menu, these let you change the entire look of an image with just a few clicks.

The Pixelmator blog:

The feature works by changing all nondestructively applied colors in a composition—whether it’s a gradient stop in gradient map effect, a color fill or even a shadow. You can also customize individual colors in templates or your own designs to create new document color presets.

You can also use the new alternative elements like lighting, shapes, effects and illustrations to bring more variety to your templates.

AI-powered features

Other improvements in this update include a machine learning-powered feature that optimizes placeholder images by removing backgrounds, increasing resolution and even placing them. Read: How to change the default image viewer in macOS

The new Smart Replace feature combines Remove Background, Auto Fill and ML Super Resolution to replace placeholder content. The update is free for all existing users of the app.

Pricing and availability

In a world where everything is a subscription, Pixelmator Pro is one of the rare apps that doesn’t require you to subscribe. Instead, you pay $40 to own the app forever.

The Pixelmator team releases regular updates that bring major new features.
