This year’s Apple Watch Activity Challenge celebrating national parks launches August 27

Apple has made it a habit to celebrate national parks in the United States in August, and this year appears to be no different. The company will have a brand new Activity Challenge for Apple Watch owners that launches later this month. And, as is par for the course, those who achieve the goal will get some digital rewards.

This year’s Activity Challenge celebrating the national parks in the United States will launch on August 27, 2022. To earn the digital medal, which is pictured above (via MacRumors), Apple Watch owners will be tasked with completing a one mile (or more) hike, wheelchair, walk, or run.

Let’s celebrate the beauty of national parks everywhere. On August 27, earn this award by recording a hike, walk, run, or wheelchair workout of a mile (1.6K) or more with any app that adds workouts to Health.

Of course, the digital medal is not the only prize for completing the task. If an Apple Watch owner completes the challenge they’ll also secure themselves some animated stickers as well. Those stickers can be shared via iMessage, so the Apple Watch owner can really show off their accomplishment.

We’re still waiting to see what else Apple does to celebrate U.S. national parks. The company typically goes pretty big along with the annual Apple Watch Activity Challenge, with promotions offered in Apple Pay, among other avenues and services.
