CoolStar teases Procursus bootstrap on iPhone X running iOS 15.1

It was only yesterday that we reported on a public announcement from Odyssey Team lead developer CoolStar about current progress on the upcoming rootless iOS & iPadOS 15.0-15.1.1 jailbreak tool, and as you may recall, the team was getting a little hung up on A11 chip-equipped devices.

In a more recent announcement, however, CoolStar appeared to suggest more progress after indicating that the team had successfully managed to get Procursus running an iPhone X running iOS 15.1. The iPhone X, of course, sports an A11 chip — the same chip the team reported challenges with in the prior announcement.

For those who don’t already know, Procursus is the bootstrap used primarily by Odyssey Team-branded jailbreaks, such as Odyssey and Taurine. It is the same bootstrap that will be used by the upcoming rootless jailbreak for iOS & iPadOS 15.0-15.1.1, albeit with changes to suit the rootless paradigm.

With Procursus now running on iOS/iPadOS 15 on the A11 chipset, that’s one tricky hurdle cleared, which brings the community one step closer to a jailbreak. Of course, there is still a tone of work to be done regarding the jailbreak implementation and support for other chipsets, so it will take more time.

Currently, there is no ETA for the release of the Odyssey Team’s rootless iOS & iPadOS 15.0-15.1.2 jailbreak tool, but iDB will continue to keep its readers apprised of the latest developments as they happen.

In the meantime, be sure to familiarize yourself with the rootless jailbreak dynamic by reading up on our frequently asked questions post to better understand how this jailbreak will impact your user experience. Spoiler: it shouldn’t impact your day-to-day jailbreak usage all that much.
