Purelist, Play, Five Cents and other apps to check out this weekend

Welcome back for another edition of our Apps of the Week roundup. This week we have a minimal note-taking app, a powerful YouTube companion, and a money tracker for folks who hate money trackers. And as always, we’ve selected a great new game for you to check out.

Purelist

Oh look, Cody fell for another minimal notes app. Anyway this is Purelist, a todo list, notes and reminders app all in one. It has this super simple UI that doesn’t require any big learning curve, and it actually offers quite a few features. I’ll throw this in the ‘if you haven’t found a todo/notes app you like yet’ category.

Play: Watch Videos Later

Play bills itself as the best way to bookmark YouTube videos to watch later, but it is so much more than that. You can drag and drop, or cut and paste, or use the Add Video action in the Share sheet. It also has a ton of organizational options, widget support, and Shortcuts integration so you can really automate your workflow.

Five Cents — Money Tracker

Five Cents is a nifty little money track for folks who don’t like money trackers, but like emoji. Entering in expenses and other data is quick, the app was designed for one-handed use, and you can view your insights at a glance. It does look like most of the features are hidden behind a subscription plan, but it starts at $3/month—super cheap if you find the app useful.

KOF ’94 ACA NEOGEO

I can’t believe I’m doing two NEOGEO games in back-to-back weeks, but here we are. Anyway The King of Fighter perfectly encapsulates the 90’s 2D, side-scrolling fighter hype. These developers have been doing an awesome job porting these legacy titles to iOS, so if this interests you at all, try it with confidence.
