Apple Watch Series 7 is landing on store shelves on October 15

According to the official announcement that the company shared on Apple Newsroom, Apple Watch Series 7 will be available to order beginning Friday, October 8, at 5am PDT. The smartwatch will be available in stores starting Friday, October 15.

The first wave of releases will cover 50 countries and regions, including:

  • Australia
  • Canada
  • China
  • France
  • Germany
  • India
  • Japan
  • Mexico
  • Russia
  • South Korea
  • The United Arab Emirates
  • The United Kingdom
  • The United States

Atypically for Apple, the company didn’t say when Apple Watch Series 7 would be arriving when announcing the device earlier this month. That’s because of unforeseen supply chain issues that are blamed on two major factors, the current pandemic and the fact that suppliers had to slightly retool factories due to the updated design.

Apple Watch Series 7 design

Series 7 includes skinner display bezels and a bigger display built using the screen lamination technique. This eliminates the visible gap between the OLED display panel itself and cover glass, making onscreen images clearer and more lifelike.

From Apple’s press release:

The design of Apple Watch Series 7 is refined with softer, more rounded corners, and the display has a unique refractive edge that makes full-screen watch faces and apps appear to seamlessly connect with the curvature of the case. At just 1.7 mm thin, the narrower borders of Apple Watch Series 7 maximize the screen area of the display while minimally changing the dimensions of the watch itself.

Apple has optimized its own apps, watch faces and watch complications to take advantage of the increased pixel count, with the new Contour and Modular Duo faces designed specifically for the new device. Series 7 also sports faster magnetic charging.

Stainless steel models are available in Silver, Graphite and Gold Stainless Steel, along with Apple Watch Edition in Titanium and Space Black Titanium.
