iPhone 13 lineup again rumored to bring noteworthy upgrade to battery capacities

The iPhone 12 lineup isn’t necessarily a slouch when it comes to battery capacity, or life. Still, there’s some room for improvement. The iPhone 13 series may do just that.

According to reliable leaker L0vetodream, who posted a photo with some information on Twitter recently, Apple is going to give a significant uptick in battery capacity to its next iPhone lineup. At its peak, the biggest increase will see up to 18% improvement to capacity for the larger iPhone. Meanwhile, even the smallest smartphone is reportedly getting bigger.

According to the tweet, Apple will improve the iPhone 13 mini‘s battery capacity by 8 percent. Meanwhile, the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro will see a battery capacity upgrade to 9.9%. And finally, the iPhone 13 Pro Max will see an 18% increase.

Here’s how that looks in numbers, based on today’s leaked information:

With the bigger battery capacities, it’s possible that the new iPhone 13 lineup will be slightly heavier than the iPhone 12 series. However, that’s more than likely a trade-off that most people –even those upgrading from last year’s iPhone– will be more than happy to make. Of course, nothing is official quite yet. Apple’s not going to get around to unveiling its next iPhone lineup until later this year.

However, this is not the first time that we’ve heard the iPhone 13 series will have bigger batteries. Back in March of this year, a research note released by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said that Apple is indeed going to use bigger batteries in the new iPhone series. The company made that possible by utilizing the space better within the iPhone casing.

So, something to look forward to. It will be interesting to see if Apple promotes the batteries while on stage later this year.
