Apple Podcasts app for macOS Catalina

Apple Podcasts is getting a handy new feature today, which will make it even easier to listen to content on the platform across the web.

As first reported by TechCrunch, Apple is now making it possible to embed Apple Podcasts directly into websites. It’s hunkered down in a standalone web player, which is embedded on the site. This makes it easy to embed any podcast that’s available via Apple’s podcast app. It should be a handy tool for fans of a podcast, marketers, and creators alike.

The tool to embed a podcast, or several podcast episodes, can be found in a couple of different places. First, on Apple Podcasts Marketing Tools website, and on Apple Podcast Preview pages. For the general user, they will be able to select the share icon on the preview page, and then choose the new “embed” option.

On the Marketing Tools website, it’s a bit more in depth:

And in the case of the latter, you would enter the URL for the podcast or episode you want to embed on the Marketing Tools website, then scroll down to the bottom of the page to see the options for the embed player.

Here, you can also adjust the options for the player’s height and width to your own specifications or leave it at the default setting of 450px x 660px. When you’re ready to grab the code, you just click the “Copy Embed” button which automatically copies the code to your clipboard for pasting elsewhere.

This should make it even easier to see more podcasts across the web, as they can now be easily shared on the sites. What’s more, visitors to a site with the Apple Podcasts player embedded will be able to interact with the podcast right from the site. If they want to learn more about it, they can open the podcast in the app that’s available on iOS, macOS, and iPadOS.

The original report notes that Apple says the embed feature for Apple Podcasts is available widely beginning today.
