27-inch iMac sees extended shipping estimates as rumors of a refresh circulate

At some point in the future Apple is going to refresh the iMac lineup, but a recent rumor suggests we could see a whole new design later this month.

We may have another sign that Apple is gearing up to refresh the iMac lineup, at least one of the size variants. As was first reported by Macerkopf on Wednesday, shipping estimates for the 27-inch iMac have slipped into late June and into early July, depending on your shipping preference. At the time of publication, all of the 27-inch iMac models are seeing delivery estimates between June 25 and July 2 with the fastest option.

Meanwhile, with the free shipping option, shipping estimates are set between June 26 and July 3.

Now, it’s worth noting that the slipping shipping estimates are only in place for the larger of the iMac models. The 21.5-inch iMac in the base model and most expensive option are seeing deliveries by tomorrow, June 11, with the fastest delivery option. If you choose free delivery, that will get the desktop computer to your doorstep by Friday, June 12. If you choose the middle variant, fastest delivery sees it arrive by Friday, June 12, and free delivery by Monday, June 15.

In-store pickup might not be available in your region just yet, but some physical retail stores are reopened so you may get lucky in that regard.

With that being said, you may want to wait just a bit longer before picking one up. It was just yesterday that a report cropped up detailing Apple’s plans for a new iMac, one that goes beyond just refreshing the available processor under the hood. That report indicate that Apple is going to change the overall design of the iMac, adopting an “iPad Pro” design language, adopt AMD’s Navi GPU, will drop the Fusion drive, and more.

So, if you’re in the market for a new iMac you should probably wait to see how things pan out at this year’s all-digital Worldwide Developers Conference, which is set to kick off on Monday, June 22.

If Apple does launch a new iMac later this month, will you be considering it? Let us know in the comments!
