As you are well aware by now, all of the Apple Stores outside of China are closed, and will remain that way for a little while longer (at the very least). So Apple Store employees are working from home when they can, if they are able to. And with the stores being closed that means even higher call volume for phone and online sales/technical support. So the company needs some help in that regard, per a tweet from Jon Prosser.
As such, Apple is offering up an opportunity to its retail store employees that want to work from home. The company says they can work, temporarily, as an in-home support advisor, If they accept this role, which, again, is temporary based on the company’s needs, they will be sent the necessary equipment to handle the task presented to them, which includes an iMac. According to MacRumors, this even includes a small cash incentive.
It’s unknown just how many Apple Store employees are being offered this role, or in what regions it’s being offered.
This shift in action makes sense for Apple, and it’s hopefully good news for retail employees sitting at home due to the pandemic.
