In this edition of our Apps of the Week roundup we have a new journaling/mindfulness helper, an app for wanna-be wine sommeliers, and a simple todo list manager. And as always, we’ve selected two great new games to check out.
Posity is a mix of mindfulness, journaling and asking yourself the right questions. And if you stay consistent, the app can help you get a better understanding of the things you should be focusing on. Features include focus and ignore lists, quick and easy mood input, daily retrospectives, motivational quotes and more.
If you’re looking for a new hobby, or perhaps just want to broaden your wine knowledge, check out True Wine. It has an interactive wine map with over 1500 regions, grape varieties, soil compositions, acidity levels, alcohol percentages and just about any other detail you’d want to know about wine. Try free for 14 days.
Still looking for that perfect todo list? Check out Shortlist. It’s easy to use, with a minimal interface, and it even limits the amount of tasks you can see to avoid you getting overwhelmed. It’s not going to be for power users, but it does offer Apple Watch support, reminders and alerts, categorizing and tracking.
Land and Castles
If you’re in the mood to try a snappy, real-time strategy game, check out Land Castles. In it, players are tasked with collecting resources, exploring the lands, and of course battling. There are 12 quests, a map editor, a skirmish mode, and a host of upgrades for your castles. There’s even a tutorial for new players.
For something a little more engaging, check out Don Zombie. It’s an action shooter game set in a world riddled by zombies. Using an arsenal of weapons, traps and vehicles, you must destroy the zombie hordes before they take over the world. There are over 100 levels, 25+ different weapons, upgradeable gear, and more.
