In this edition of our Apps of the Week roundup, we have a hyper-local social network, a speedy calendar app and a face-swapper for GIFs. And as always, we’ve selected two great new games for you to check out.
I really like the idea here. uLouder is a hyper-local social network that helps you connect with the people around you. Have an urgent matter? Post it and ask for help from folks nearby. Need to know where the nearest market is? Just ask, and you’ll get a quick answer. Need a tennis partner? You get the idea.
Calendar by 44
Board or upset with your current calendar app? Check out Calendar by 44. It was designed from the ground up for blazingly fast calendaring (apparently that’s a real word). Its one page view means there are less distractions and no redundant info. Supports notes, location tags, color-coding and more.
Familiar is a simple app that lets you swap faces with those in popular GIFs, making you the star of the meme. I’ll be honest, the free version features annoying pop-up ads and the few GIFs I tried making turned out terrible (and actually kind of creepy), but it’s still fun to play around with.
Embark on an epic road trip adventure of a lifetime in Summer Catchers. With your trusty wooden car you must travel to distant lands full of mystery, strange creatures and exciting races in your quest to finally experience summer. It’s a unique arcade game with puzzles, racing and more.
RougeJack: Roguelike BlackJack
I love unique little indie games like this. Explore endless dungeons, discover monsters and beat them all in a game of 21. Collet weapons, defenses and the carcasses of your enemies while playing a fresh and interesting take on the popular casino game BlackJack.
