“Amazing Stories” reboot hitting Apple TV+ on March 6, here’s your first look image

A reboot of Steven Spielberg’s 1985 anthology series “Amazing Stories” will be hitting the Apple TV+ streaming service globally on Friday, March 6, Apple announced yesterday.

The premiere date and a first look image from the series were revealed yesterday at the Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour.

The first look image, seen top of post, is from the episode titled “The Rift” which was directed by Mark Mylod and stars Kerry Lynne Bishé, Whitney Coleman, Trisha Mashburn, Austin Stowell, Edward Burns and Juliana Canfield.

Apple will make available the first five episodes of the new series at launch, with subsequent ones arriving weekly thereafter every Friday. Executive produced by Spielberg, the original 1985 series aired for two seasons on NBC, with each episode sporting a distinct unreal fantasy and horror story a la “The Twilight Zone.”

Here’s Apple’s description of this highly anticipated Apple TV+ arrival:

A reimagining of the original anthology series by Steven Spielberg, each episode of ‘Amazing Stories’ will transport the audience to worlds of wonder through the lens of today’s most imaginative filmmakers, directors and writers.

American actor, producer, writer and director Edward Fitzgerald Burns has been cast for the lead role in the upcoming reboot, which will feature Robert Forster’s last acting performance before passing away last October.

The reboot of “Amazing Stories” is executive produced by Steve Spielberg himself, in addition to Darryl Frank, Justin Falvey, Eddy Kitsis, Adam Horowitz (“Lost,” “Once Upon a Time”), Chris Long, Don Kurt and David H. Goodman.

Matt Cherniss, Apple’s head of Development:

‘Amazing Stories’ is a beloved show that has captured our imaginations, and we couldn’t be more excited to share its next thrilling iteration with a global audience of all ages on Apple TV+.

Some of the stars that will feature in additional episodes of the show include Dylan O’Brien (“Maze Runner,” “Teen Wolf”), Victoria Pedretti (“You”), Josh Holloway (“Lost,” “Yellowstone”) and Sasha Alexander (“Rizzoli & Isles,” “Shameless”).

As we reported earlier, executive producer Bryan Fuller and showrunner Hart Hanson left the project over creative differences.

The show is being produced by Universal Television and Spielberg’s Amblin Television.
