In this week’s Apps of the Week roundup we have a short-sighted to-do list, a workout app for folks with little spare time, and an app for making and finding audio snippets. And as always, we’ve selected two great new games for you to check out.
Poof-24 hour to-do list
Another day, another to-do app. But Poof sets itself apart from the others with its belief that “goals must be achievable, not destructive.” The UI is centered around setting accomplishable-tasks within 24 hours, with features like color coding, smart notifications and support for dark mode. There are some critical IAPs, but if this ends up being the right productivity app for you, it’ll be more than worth the $3.
I thought this app might be pertinent given that we’re still in the ‘New Year’s Resolutions’ window. Furious Five features a compilation of intense bodyweight exercise you can do in—you guessed it—5 minutes. There are full-body war-ups, different workouts for strength, fat-burning and toning, and there are even medals to collect.
AudioSnack is an interesting app that enables you to record, trim and create your own snack-sized audio clips. Think of these clips as kind of like GIFs, but with sound, and without the GIFs. Make sense? You can tag and upload your own clips, or search and browse through the crowd-sourced library of clips.
If you find yourself with ample free time this weekend, you may want to check out Pascal’s Wager by Giant Network. It’s an epic dark fantasy ARPG, and everything about it screams top-shelf title. Console-like graphics, a rich storyline with 20+ hours of content, and a soundtrack performed by a world-class orchestra. There’s full controller support and no IAPs.
If you’re looking for something a little more arcade-esque, check out Mineblast!!. It’s a platformer title with destructible environments. You must blow up walls to open your path, blast soil and crates to find precious gems, and take out wooden platforms so you can use them as a bridge. Features include quality pixel art and chip tune music, hidden secrets and levels, and more.
