Apple News is no stranger to presidential contenders, and now it can tout its first co-hosting duties for the next presidential debate.

Axios was the first to report the news today. The Democratic National Committee officially unveiled the next round of presidential debates, of which there will be four in early 2020. The debates will be held in the first four primary and caucus states. But one of the big pieces of news comes from the fact that Apple’s Apple News will be taking on co-hosting duties in February of next year.

According to the official schedule, the first of the four democratic presidential debates will take place on January 14, 2020. This will be the 7th Democratic debate in total, and it will be co-hosted by the Des Moines Register and CNN held at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa.

On February 7, 2020, ABC will be co-hosting the second of the four (8th in total) with Apple News. This one will be held at St. Anselm College in Manchester, New Hampshire.

Finally, the third and fourth debates (9th and 10th) of 2020 will be co-hosted by NBC News and the Nevada Independent on February 19, 2020 and CBS News and the Congressional Black Caucus Institute in partnership with Twitter on February 25, respectively.

As noted in the original report, Facebook is not listed as a co-host in early 2020, which is a change of pace compared to 2012 and 2016.

As for Apple News, the resource launched a Democratic presidential candidate guide earlier this year, back when there were many more options to choose from. Since then, the field has been whittled down quite a bit.

It’s likely this won’t be the first time that Apple News gets involved in this sort of thing, but it’s certainly noteworthy now for it being the first.
