Apple updated its Smart Battery Case design for the new iPhone 11 series, but it’ll set you back $129. It’s got some cool features and comes in designer colors, but is it worth the money? Check out this video for details.
Tacitly acknowledging that many folks out there need more battery capacity than its slender phones can hold, Apple offers the Smart Battery Case, a slip-on case with a built-in battery that provides gobs of extra power. The new case for the iPhone 11 sports some interesting features. Its silicone exterior comes in a few different designer colors, and is easy to slip on and off. It’s also the first Smart Battery Case to sport a discrete camera button to make it easier to snap photos.
The new Smart Battery Case for iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max provides up to 50% longer battery life when fully charged. When the iPhone is using the case, it will display the Smart Battery Case’s battery status on its lock screen and in Notification Center, so it’ll never be a mystery about how much charge you have left.
The case can charge wirelessly using Qi-certified charging mats, or for even faster charge you can use a USB-PD compatible charger. It’s compatible with Lightning cables and peripherals too.
Spending $129 on a case – battery equipped or not – is a lot of money. Our video editor Harris Craycraft sought to find out if the case is worthwhile. This short video should give you some idea of whether it’s worth your money or not.
