Following today’s update to WhatsApp which brought out nice new wallpapers and privacy controls for your Last Seen, Profile Photo and Status, the social networking giant Facebook has just refreshed its main iOS client.

The new Facebook 8.0 for the iPhone and iPad, now available in the App Store, brings supposed improvements for reliability and speed, a simpler way to see and choose a photo album’s audience and a slightly refreshed iPad UI to make it easier to post and share on the tablet…

Now when you post a status update in Facebook for iPad or share someone else’s post, your audience selector will be more prominently accessible right on the compose sheet.

As seen on the screenshots above and below, the updated design makes it easier to post and share on iPad because you can immediately see who you’re sharing post with at the top of the compose screen.

If you want, you can tap on the selected audience to change your default preference and switch to sharing a post with Public, Friends, Friends of Friends, Friends Except and more. By the way, I’ve blurred my friends’ profile names and images in order to protect their privacy.

For reference, this is what the compose sheet looks like on an iPhone.

In addition to these sharing enhancements and reliability improvements, the new Facebook version 8.0 includes “a simple way to see and choose a photo album’s audience,” but I couldn’t find that option no matter how hard I looked.

Should you figure it out, please share your findings with fellow readers down in the comments and I’ll update the article accordingly.
