Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath hits iOS

Oddworld, the popular platform-based action adventure originally released on consoles back in 2005, has been ported to iOS and is now available in the App Store as Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath.

The game puts you in the shoes of a tall, dark and enigmatic figure, a drifter turned bounty hunter simply named Stranger. Your goal: capture outlaws and collect bounties, armed with your trusty double-barreled crossbow that fires insects and small animals.

The iOS port sports a highly detailed graphics engine capable of rendering towns, realistic water effects, lush forests, massive industrial facilities and vast outdoor panoramas in console-grade fidelity.

Apple posts new ‘Voice Text’ iPhone 6 ad

Apple tonight posted a new commercial to its YouTube channel showcasing the recently-launched iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. The ad is entitled ‘Voice Text’ and it highlights the new voice messaging feature found on iOS 8 and of course the new iPhones.

Coming just a few days after the last two spots, the ad once again stars Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon and Justin Timberlake. In similar fashion to recent ads, the pair provide comedic voiceovers as they demonstrate the benefits of voice messaging.

Review: AppHeads an incredibly fast iOS multitasking tweak

AppHeads, the tweak that brings a fast multitasking experience to iOS7 and iOS 8, is now available for download on Cydia's BigBoss repo. Inspired by Facebook's ChatHead system, AppHeads brings a fresh and new multitasking method to iOS.

We've already previewed the tweak once before, and now it's available for purchase for $4.99. Is it worth its relatively steep asking price? Does it live up to the hype and potential? Check inside for the video walkthrough and review.

Good deal: name your own price on this awesome Mac software bundle

Good news Mac owners, StackSocial is running another one of its popular “name your own price” software promotions. There are 9 apps in the bundle, and 1 instructional course, which combined normally sell for $543. But, as the headline suggests, you can literally name your own price.

What's the catch? The deal site keeps a running average of what people are paying for the package, which is currently at $4.51. Pay below the average price, and you'll only get 3 of the applications mentioned below, but pay equal to or above the average price, and you'll get the entire package.

‘Pyx’ adds smooth animations to the iOS app switcher

Looking to change up the look of the App Switcher animations on iOS 8? If so, then look no further than Pyx, a $0.99 jailbreak tweak that allows you to add over half a dozen animations to the App Switcher.

As you'll see from our video walkthrough inside, Pyx isn't the most elegant tweak that you'll run across, but it works well enough to leave most satisfied with the results. Have a look at our video for the full scoop.

WatchBoard: a new Apple Watch SpringBoard replacement for iPhone and iPad

Aaron Ash, the creator of the legendary jailbreak tweak called Barrel, is back with a brand new creation called WatchBoard. WatchBoard is based off of the Apple Watch UI, and it's the best implementation of said concept that I've seen thus far.

Ash's expertise in this area is immediately apparent when it comes to design decisions, settings, etc. Not only that, but the tweak works on both the iPhone and the iPad. Have a look at our video walkthrough of WatchBoard after the break to see what makes it so good.

Shopping on Amazon has never been so beautiful with Canopy for iPhone

Not sure about you, but holidays always stress me out. More Black Friday deals than I could possibly process isn't the worst part, it's hunting for great gifts that's both time-consuming and exhausting.

This is especially true when shopping on Amazon. If only someone curated the best and finest products available for purchase on the Internet's biggest catalog...

That's where Canopy jumps in. Created by CanopyCo, Inc., this nifty little iPhone application presents you with a beautifully designed list of Amazon products, neatly organized by categories and brands and curated by “a community with great taste.”

In addition to shopping by categories and brands, the free app lets you find gifts by personality type, see what’s new, trending or the most popular in the product feeds, build a personal collection of your favorite Amazon products and much more.

Screeny quickly deletes old screenshots from your Camera Roll

If you find yourself filling up your iPhone with screenshots and wasting storage space, then you might be interested in this new app called Screeny. Screeny does one thing, and it does it well: it scans your Camera Roll for screenshots and lets you delete them in one fell swoop, saving you the time to manually browse through your entire library, and most importantly, helping you save precious storage space on your device.

Black Friday guide: how to separate the deals from the duds

It's that time of year again. Thanksgiving is tomorrow, which means we are now less than 48 hours away from Black Friday. On this day, thousands of retailers will be hosting flash sales in an effort to lure customers into their stores. Some even plan on starting their promotions tomorrow, and others have already begun.

For many people, the whole thing is execrable—unruly shoppers standing in long lines just to save a measly couple of dollars on useless items—but it doesn't have to be. If you know what to look for, you can actually save good money on good products, and in many cases avoid the crowds.

Foxconn’s upcoming $2.6 billion plant rumored to produce iPhone sapphire screens

Its deal with GT Advanced Technology — which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection after failing to ramp up sapphire production in time for the iPhone 6 launch — has collapsed but Apple isn't giving up on the precious gemstone entirely yet.

A report Wednesday by Focus Taiwan alleged that Foxconn's upcoming $2.6 billion facility in central China will be churning out screens for Apple's mobile devices that use synthetic sapphire crystals for increased durability and protection.

Apple said to discontinue iPhone 5c in 2015

According to the latest supply chain chatter, Apple may discontinue its unapologetically plastic handset, the iPhone 5c, by the summer of next year.

Citing people familiar with the matter, Taiwan's Industrial and Commercial Times said Wednesday that the Cupertino firm will be phasing out the iPhone 5c around mid-2015, ostensibly because the company is pleased with high demand for the latest 4.7 and 5.5-inch iPhone 6 smartphones.

KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo recently made a similar suggestion, estimating Apple would wind down production of both the iPhone 5c and 4s in 2015 after promotional plans.
