Rumor: iPad 3 pricing and configurations revealed

While we're fairly certain about most of the iPad 3's features and even its release date, pricing and configuration has remained a bit of a mystery. A purported iPad pricing matrix surfaced on the web earlier this week claiming that the new tablet would be more expensive than its predecessors, but otherwise we haven't heard a peep.

Well thankfully the folks over at 9to5Mac have broken the silence today with a new report that covers both storage configurations and pricing for the iPad 3. Want to know how much the new tablet will cost? Read on...

Apple confirms the iPhone uses Corning glass

We've assumed for a long time that Apple used ultra-tough Corning glass in its iOS products. Corning, a US-based company that specializes in glass and ceramics, is the maker of the popular Gorilla Glass display cover found in several devices.

Apple's never said for sure whether or not it uses the scratch-resistant glass cover in its mobile gadgets. But that changed today when the company, possibly by accident, confirmed its relationship with Corning in its new Job Creation page...

Apple prepping Yerba Buena Center for next week’s iPad 3 event

Apple sent out invites earlier this week for a media event to take place in California next Wednesday. The company is expected to unveil the third iteration of its popular tablet, and possibly a new Apple TV, during the keynote.

The event is slated to take place at San Francisco's Yerba Buena Center for the Arts — the same location Apple used to show off its iPad 2. And it looks like the company has already started prepping for the festivities...

US Air Force places $9 million order for 18,000 iPads

The iPad is already being used in the cockpits of American Airlines aircraft, and soon it will be given pride of place aboard US Air Force planes, too.

We told you recently how the United States Air Force was looking into a bulk purchase of tablets, and it appears that Apple's iPad has been chosen to replace weighty in-flight manuals and other documentation aboard C-5 Galaxy and C-17 Globemaster aircrafts.

The order, potentially reaching 18,000 iPads, is worth $9.36m to Executive Technology Inc., a Phoenix-based computer services company...

Web logs show Apple testing iPads with iOS 6.0

This definitely looks like it's going to be a big year of iOS hardware. By all accounts, Apple is set to unveil its new iPad next week with a Retina display and LTE 4G technology. And we expect an even bigger makeover for the company's handset line later this year.

But what about software? Last year Apple added more than 200 new features to its mobile operating system with iOS 5. So what does it have in store for the next iteration? Well whatever it is, it looks like the company is hard at work on it...

‘Plugication’ will automatically restart music when headphones are connected

Tweaks like these are the reason why I love jailbreaking so much. Jailbreaking allows you to add obvious features to the iPhone that Apple may have looked over, or purposely omitted.

Plugication is the perfect example of what I'm talking about. It's a jailbreak tweak that forces your music to resume when you plug your headphones back into your device.

Check out our full video demonstration of Plugication inside...

Apple rounds on critics by claiming over 500,000 US jobs are tied to its products

Apple has been the subject of much ire and speculation over its perceived lack of support for the United States and its scarcity of jobs, but now the company is hitting back with a few choice numbers it believes shows that the opposite is in fact, true.

Apple notoriously gets all its products from Foxconn in China, with Brazil now also becoming a source for all those devices with an Apple logo on the back. This has led to Apple being on the receiving end of much bad press over labor conditions at Foxconn's factories as well as the question being raised of why doesn't Apple build its products on US soil.

But as Apple is keen to point out, the iPhone and iPad maker does actually have its fingers in many US-based pies, creating and sustaining over 500,000 jobs in the process...
