Video gets up close and personal with iPad 3 parts

The entire tech world let out a sigh of relief last week when reports that Apple had sent out invites to a March 7th media event surfaced. Finally, after months of rumors and speculation, we'll get to see Apple's new tablet.

Can't wait that long to see what the iPad 3 looks like? You're in luck. The folks over at MIC gadget have gotten their hands on a number of iPad 3 parts, including its rear shell and front glass, and have put them all on video for your viewing pleasure...

‘Plugication’ makes its way to Cydia

Plugication — the jailbreak tweak that automatically resumes music upon connecting your headphones to your device — has been officially released to the public.

Our preview covered Plugication's main feature, but a version is also in the works that will allow users to disable the "pause on disconnect" feature that happens when you remove headphones.

Plugication can be downloaded for free from Cydia's ModMyi repo. Be sure to share your thoughts after giving it a try.

Siri gets a HAL 9000 theme

Yes, the inevitable has finally happened, we're just curious why it took so long.

Indeed, Siri has finally been laced with a classic HAL 9000 theme from 2001: A Space Odyssey.

‘AppSlider’ now available for download in Cydia

Lock screen app launcher, AppSlide, has made its way to the Cydia store this afternoon. As we previously discussed, AppSlider is a jailbreak tweak that allows you to customize your Lock screen with two shortcuts to your favorite apps.

You can launch your favorite apps directly from the Lock screen, and if you have a passcode enabled, AppSlider will respect the passcode before allowing you to launch the app.

Apple reveals its all-time top apps

Yesterday we brought you news of a tremendous achievement where the App Store is concerned. Apple, amazingly, announced the fact that it had delivered an astonishing 25 billion downloads since the creation of the App Store in 2008.

That truly is an amazing fact and we're sure it won't be long until the next milestone of 50 billion has come and gone. It took Apple just over a year to add a further 15 billion to its 10 billionth download back in January, 2011.

The Simpsons: Tapped Out now available in the US App Store

Last month we told you about The Simpsons: Tapped Out, a new EA game that was supposed to make its way to the App Store. Turns out the game was available in many countries overseas, but for some reason, it wasn't available in the US quite yet.

Simpsons fans can now rejoice as The Simpsons: Tapped Out is now available for the price of free...

Apple could break through its 100 millionth iPad this year

Apple is currently the top tablet manufacturer, leading over Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Samsung, and more. Apple's iPad sold an astonishing 15 million units in its 2011 holiday quarter alone, bringing the total number of iPads sold to about 55 million.

According to a few new reports from analysts, they suspect Apple could sell its 100 millionth iPad in 2012...

Rumor: 7-inch ‘iPad mini’ launching in Q3

A 7-inch iPad has been in the rumor-mill for quite awhile, but has yet to see the light of day. Many have said Apple will never choose to go with a 7-inch display and will continue to opt with its 10-inch iPad -- which is currently the top selling tablet. However, many reports indicate a 7-inch (or 8-inch) version of the iPad will launch later this year.

OLED-Display says it has obtained a leaked document from Samsung, dated from December 2011. According the document, Apple will launch a 7-inch 'iPad mini' in Q3 of this year...

App Store hits 25 billion downloads

Apple's App Store has just hit an astonishing 25 billion downloads since its creation 3 years ago. The winner, which has yet to been announced, has won a $10,000 gift card courtesy of Apple.

Apple put up the tracker a few weeks ago on its website, and it didn't take long for Apple to reach the number they were anticipating...

C-Spire Wireless now selling 16GB iPhone 4S for $150 with contract

Although the iPhone 4S retails for around $650 (16GB model), most folks can pick one up for significantly less than that. Carriers will generally absorb a large amount of the handset's cost as long as you promise to be a long-term customer.

Here in the US, all of the major carriers offer the 16GB iPhone 4S for $199 along with a two-year contract. And C-Spire Wireless, a southeastern regional operator, offers the entry-level iPhone 4S for just $149...
