T-Mobile 4G network will be compatible with the iPhone

In a blog post published today, T-Mobile CTO confirms what we already heard last month: the company is working hard on upgrading its network to fully support the iPhone:

A nice side benefit of the refarming effort is that our 4G network will be compatible with a broader range of devices, including the iPhone. The other important benefit of our network modernization effort is the coverage improvements it will deliver, especially when it comes to in-home coverage.

It would sure be a welcome gesture for the one million T-Mobile customers who currently have to use their iPhone at 2G speeds.

Ironically, the new iPad Retina display is made by Samsung

In the months leading up to the unveiling of the new iPad, the rumor mill seemed pretty confident that the tablet would be getting a high resolution Retina display. But we weren't quite sure who was going to be making them.

There was a lot of speculation regarding Sharp as a possible manufacturer. And the same with LG. But according to a new report from Bloomberg, the sole display-maker for the new iPad has been none other than Samsung...

The new iPad will be available at your local Apple Store, Friday at 8am

As expected, the new iPad will be available for sale at your local Apple Store this Friday, at 8am. The confirmation comes from 9to5Mac's Mark Gurman who managed to get a photo of one of the marketing materials that will be hanging on the windows of Apple Stores around the country this Friday.

If the date doesn't come as a surprise – it was officially announced by Apple last week – the time was kind of an X factor until now...

New iPad confirmed to sport 1GB of RAM and 1 GHz CPU

Tinhte, the Vietnamese tech blog who got its hands of the new iPad and released the first unboxing video earlier today, put Apple's new tablet to the test and posted the Geekbench benchmarks of the device.

The results confirm earlier reports that the new iPad would sport 1GB of RAM, double that of the iPad 2. The benchmark also reveals that the new iPad has the same 1GHz CPU which can be found in the A5 chip...

Hud: Visualize when your music skips to the next track

Want a quick and easy way to visualize when the music you're listening to skips to the next track? If so, then Hud may be up to the task.

Unlike a tweak such as MusicBanners, Hud places the album art and track name smack square in the middle of your iPhone's screen.

‘CamFast’ now available on Cydia

[tube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GsX5S7HrTO4[/tube]

Yesterday we brought you a sneak preview of CamFast (previously FastCam), and it's a tweak that allows you to invoke the iPhone's camera API using a simple Activator action.

The nice thing about CamFast is that it even works at the Lock screen, and is faster than Apple's 5.1 Lock screen camera improvements.

Be sure to watch our video demonstration above to see how it works in action.

How to install iPhoto and iMovie on iOS 5.0.1

iPhoto was the big new app release that Apple touted at its new iPad media event, but the bad news is that it requires iOS 5.1.

For those of us with jailbroken iPhone 4S' and iPad 2's, this places us in an interesting predicament.

Since there is no way to jailbreak iOS 5.1 on these devices, updating now would not only prevent us from jailbreaking, but it would also prevent us from downgrading back to iOS 5.0.1 now that Apple has closed the signing window for that firmware.

So, what to do? Fortunately, there's an easy workaround to this problem, and we're going to walk you through the process on video...

Here’s the first unboxing video of the new iPad

While the rest of the world has to wait until later this week to see Apple's new tablet up close, the folks over at Tinhte.vn appear to have already gotten their hands on one.

As noted by MacRumors, the Vietnamese site posted a video last night of the first unboxing we've seen of the new iPad. The slate's packaging doesn't seem to be much different than that of its predecessor, but you can immediately spot the new Retina display...

How you can help hackers discover vulnerabilities in iOS 5.1

A few days ago we told you that the infamous iOS hacker pod2g had already started working on finding vulnerabilities in iOS 5.1 to use in a new jailbreak. The new software includes patches for the previous jailbreaks for both A4 and A5 devices.

Today, pod2g has come forward with another announcement. He is calling on the jailbreak community, or any iOS user for that matter, to help him find bugs in Apple's mobile OS by sending him crash reports. Keep reading for details...

Jony Ive explains some of the secrets to Apple’s sauce

Jonathan Ive has made quite a name for himself over the past few years. And for good reason too. Apple's SVP of industrial design is largely responsible for creating the look and feel of several popular products, including the iPod and the iPhone.

The London-born designer has a reputation for being fairly quiet, and rarely does media interviews. So you can imagine our surprise when we found out that Mr. Ive recently opened up to the London Evening Standard about a broad range of topics...

Man suing Apple over “misleading” Siri advertisements

Apple's Siri, featured exclusively on the iPhone 4S, has captured the attention of many over the last few months. Some customers viewed it as a pretty cool addition to iOS, while some have said Siri is pretty pointless. The majority of us were expecting it to be included on the third-generation iPad 3, but that's not the case.

A New York man named Frank M. Fazio isn't happy with Siri. He says that Apple has been "misleading" with its features set and has filed a class-action lawsuit, reports the WSJ...
