AdBlocker is an Easy to Use Ad Blocking Solution for Your iPhone

I've never really considered ad-blocking a feature I needed to have on my iPhone, and after using AdBlocker, I still feel that way. That's not to say that AdBlocker is a bad jailbreak tweak, in fact it is excellent at some of what it does.

My point stems from the fact that ads just aren't that big of an issue on the iPhone. Honestly, when was the last time an advertisement on the iPhone seriously annoyed you?

In fact, the main place where I find ads that annoy me is in Cydia, but ironically enough, AdBlocker doesn't have an option to block ads in Cydia...

Creating Folders on Your iPhone

It's hard to believe that there was once a time when iPhone owners had to do without folders. To make matters worse, iPad owners are just recently reaping the benefits of folders.

Prior to this revelation in organization, our apps were scattered across screen upon screen, making it extremely difficult to find a specific app quickly.

If you're new to the iPhone, or just need a brief refresher course, this iPhone Basics tutorial will explain how to use and manage your folders properly...

The iPhone is Leading the American Smartphone Race

Apple and Android always duke it out in smartphone statistics. The latest Nielsen market share data says no differently.

From a poll conducted in November of 2010, U.S. smartphone market share is dominated by iOS at 28.6%. iOS is followed by Blackberry at 26.1%, and Android at 25.8%. These numbers are U.S. only, but it is interesting to see how iOS and Android are battling for smartphone dominance.

Depending on how you look at things, the iPhone retains the lead in smartphone market share. However, Android is having greater growth with new smartphone adopters. This means that more people are buying an Android for their next smartphone, and not the iPhone...

Resistance Was Futile: Garmin Finally Launches GPS iPhone App

I don't think there was any question as to if Garmin would release an iPhone app, it was more of just a question of when. After dragging their feet for what seemed like an eternity, Garmin has finally released its first iPhone navigation app, entitled StreetPilot.

Is it too late for the company who is widely considered to be the best manufacturer of stand alone GPS systems, or can they sway customers away from Navigon and TomTom?

Steve Jobs’ New Year Resolutions

A new year is always the right time to make resolutions. I personally stopped making resolutions years ago because I wouldn't stick to them. Instead I now make predictions, but that's a different story. It seems that Steve Jobs does however make resolutions, and plenty of them.

Scribbled on a Starbucks napkin, Steve's resolutions for 2011 were acquired by the Scoopertino's Team, after a rough battle with Gizmodo, which of course laid down the money to get it first.

At the top of the list is the resolution to keep the Verizon iPhone myth going...

Comex is Most Likely Saving His Next iPhone Jailbreak for iOS 4.3

So far, RedSn0w has been the only publicly released tool that can jailbreak iOS 4.2.1. The Dev Team warned users about the dangers of updating their iOS firmware to 4.2.1 before the RedSn0w beta was released. Around that time, the iPhone hacker, P0sixNinja, said that the GreenPois0n jailbreak would be ready for 4.2.1 around the same time as RedSn0w.

The GreenPois0n jailbreak has still not come out for 4.2.1, a LimeRa1n update is nowhere to be found, and all we have had is a somewhat unstable RedSn0w beta. Luckily, PosixNinja has recently said that the GreenPois0n (most likely tethered) jailbreak will actually be ready very soon. And Geohot could always come out of the woodwork and surprise us like he did with LimeRa1n.

After some drama about a leaked SHAtter exploit in mid-December, the jailbreak developer community has seemed to be a little more divided. Comex, a prominent personality in the jailbreak community, was supposed to be working on an untethered jailbreak tool for 4.2.1. However, it seems he might be saving his hack for iOS 4.3...

Easily Switch Springboard Configurations with BackBoard for iPhone

One of the biggest cons of jailbreaking has always been how difficult it is to restore a jailbroken iPhone's settings and configuration. If you ever need to restore iOS or upgrade/downgrade to a different iOS version, there is no clear way to easily restore your iPhone's (both jailbreak and general) configuration.

BackBoard is a new jailbreak app that aims to help you save your iPhone's springboard/home screen configuration. There are other apps, like PkgBackup, that help you back up your jailbreak apps and settings; but BackBoard has some different features that make it appealing...

Jailbroken iPhone Toy Will Sure Make Your Kid Happy

Forgot to buy your kid a gift for Christmas? Don't have more than a dollar to spend? This amazing smartphone might just be the perfect present for your spoiled little kido. This is not a just any toy. It is what seems to be a mix between the iPhone and some kind of Android phone.

Best of all, you may have noticed the little Cydia icon on the toy's screen. Whoever designed this is must be a serious jailbreak aficionado.

Turn Your iPhone Into a Skateboard

Ever wanted to turn your iPhone into a skateboard? Yeah, me neither but it's good to know that if we change our mind, we'll be able to. Of course this won't turn your iPhone into a real skateboard, but it will definitely give it the look and feel of one.

I just spotted this skateboard back cover and wraps on Etsy, and one thing is sure: the designer behind it did a great job at roughing up this iPhone 4 customization kit...

Does Geohot Have an Untethered Jailbreak for iOS 4.2.1?

Well, well, well. Look what we found while perusing MuscleNerd's Twitter account... This could be an indication that prodigy iPhone hacker Geohot might be doing yet another come back, this time with an untethered jailbreak for iOS 4.2.1.

This tweet was sent by MuscleNerd a couple of days ago in reply to someone telling him, Chpwn and others to stop all the drama. Now this could be MuscleNerd's way of getting people off his back, or it could very well be the truth...

RedSn0w 0.9.6rc7 Released to Include ‘One Click’ Support

One bad thing about tethered jailbreaks, besides the obvious fact that you have to be near a computer to reboot your phone back into jailbreak mode, is the time it takes to perform a tethered boot.

No doubt the Dev Team has received numerous requests asking for a more streamlined approach to performing a tethered boot. The results of such requests is RedSn0w 0.9.6rc7, which includes one click support that will make booting your iPhone slightly less time consuming.
