‘RestoreTab for Safari’ Makes Losing Pages a Thing of the Past

Don't you just hate it when you accidentally close out a tab, desktop browser or otherwise? Thankfully, most desktop browsers include provisions to quickly restore a closed tab in an instant. With mobile browsers, however, it's a matter of going back through your history.

That's about to change. Actually, that has changed. Introducing: RestoreTab for Safari — a jailbreak tweak that lets you quickly restore your previously open tabs.

And that's not all; it's a bit more than just restoring your previous tabs, as you'll notice in this video walkthrough...

Gadget Resellers Eagerly Await the iPhone 5

As the announcement of Apple's next iPhone draws near, online resellers are gearing up for an influx in older iPhone models for sale.

When Apple introduced the iPhone 4 at WWDC last year, online gadget buyback service Gazelle bought back 10,000 old iPhone models the very same day, with the site buying back 32,000 iPhones total last year. Sites like Gazelle expect a larger increase in older generation iPhone sales when Apple unveils the iPhone 5 this Fall...

Rogers Employees Begin Pre-Launch iPhone Training

As we slowly start to enter the expected timeframe for Apple's iPhone 5 announcement, expect the amount of leaks/rumors to grow substantially. Steve Jobs and company have done a good job guarding their secret thus far, but the weeks prior to launch can get tricky.

The closer we get to an official announcement, the more likely it is that more people have been told about the device. That seems to be the case here, as iPhoneinCanada is reporting that Canadian carrier Rogers employees are starting their "pre-launch" iPhone training...

Fix iOS 4.3.3 Vulnerability with isslfix

If you may recall, with the release of the long awaited JailbreakMe 3.0 for iOS 4.3.3, literally 10 days later Apple patched the clever PDF exploit in iOS 4.3.4. The security exploit could be triggered by viewing a maliciously crafted PDF file which may lead to an unexpected application termination or arbitrary code execution.

While the main reason Apple patched the exploit was to stop the use of JailbreakMe, it can also be a security concern. A few days later, Apple released another iOS software update, iOS 4.3.5. Apple released this update to patch the certificate validation vulnerability.

If you love customizing your iDevice to the fullest, you've probably already jailbroken, unless you didn't update by accident or purchase your iDevice after Apple stopped signing iOS 4.3.3. Unfortunately, while not updating to the latest software may preserve your jailbreak, you may also be at risk from the same vulnerability...

Apple to Hold Media Event on September 7th?

We're all waiting for the imminent announcement of a new iPhone, new iPods and probably "One more thing..." right now. And if reports are correct, we might not be waiting much longer.

A Japanese site going by the name of Kodawarisan says that Apple will be holding a media event as soon as September 7th — that's less than a month away...

iOS and Android Now Account For 62% of Smartphone Market

New figures released by Gartner show sales for smartphone handsets during the second quarter of 2011, and two mobile giants are apparently beginning to take over the market.

Apple's iOS and Google's Android platforms now account for around 62% of the smartphone market, according to the report, which represents a doubling of the percentage during the same period in 2010...

iPod Touch Serves as Memory for Amnesia Patients

As much as we've made fun of the terminology, Apple's iDevices seem to have lived up to the "magical" expectations we've heard tossed around in Apple's own commercials. Remember Holly Bligh? Her sight problems required her to lug around clunky assistive equipment — until she got an iPad.

And that's not the only success story we've heard. Apple's easy-to-use devices have been deployed in several programs for autistic children, and their tablet is replacing textbooks in some school districts. Now comes a story out of Ontario, Canada, about how the iPod touch is helping amnesiacs...

Following the recent announcement that Apple had for the first time ever became the most valuable company in the world, surpassing Exxon, analysts are already predicting Apple's future.

Analyst Shaw Wu with Sterne Ageesent told investors Wednesday that Apple’s Mac and iPhone market shares could double, or even triple, in the next few years.

Great News: iPhones Stolen During London Riots Are Unusable on Carriers

With so many companies as well as individuals now beginning to count the cost of the recent riots across the UK, it's impossible to overlook the one product that seemed to be most popular amongst those looting — smartphones.

Apple's iPhone was one of those to see huge numbers begin appearing on Cragislist and other online marketplaces. Macworld UK went to the major carriers and asked just what would become of the stolen handsets.

The answer? They're worthless...

‘LockGestures’ Adds Multitouch Gestures to Your Lockscreen

"Soon we'll need a lockscreen for our lockscreen," states a comment on our YouTube video for LockGestures. Frankly, I couldn't have said it better myself.

LockGestures is a jailbreak tweak for the iPhone and/or iPad that takes the "lock" out of the lockscreen. It's a tweak that adds a plethora of multi-touch gestures right on the area that used to be solely reserved for unlocking your device.

Now, you can do everything on the lockscreen — launch apps, adjust power options, even make a sandwich. Okay, so I'm just kidding about the sandwich part, but you get the idea. Check inside to see the full scope of LockGestures in high definition video glory...

Apple Reveals Plans to Incorporate Projectors in Future iDevices

Apple recently caused a commotion in the tech world (I know, shocking) by registering ApplePico.com. MacRumors pointed out the Cupertino company on the domain's WHOIS listing earlier this month, which naturally raised some eyebrows.

Needless to say, speculation that Apple is working on pico projectors has started to heat up again. Previous patent applications from the iPhone-makers have pointed to projector research, but none of them have been more revealing than this one...
