Creating the Perfect iPhone Cloud Storage Solution

With Apple’s popular Internet-connected devices like the iPhone 4, the iPad, and the recently released Apple TV, there’s an ever increasing demand for cloud storage like never before.

Many companies have recognized this need -- as evident by services like DropBox, Evernote, MobileMe, etc. -- that they’re virtually as abundant as clouds themselves. So, what's the best option for you and your iPhone?

GreenPois0n Lockscreen Makes Waiting for iPhone 4.1 Jailbreak (un)Bearable

I need it.  You need it.  We all need the 4.1 GreenPois0n jailbreak!  To help us wait out these final days, a guy who appropriately goes by the name of “Sadist” has a GreenPois0n battery, lockscreen and slider theme available in Cydia.

Except after installing it I realized it just makes me more impatient for the new jailbreak, especially when the slider taunts “Inject the Pois0n.”  So he’s not just a sadist, he’s a tease...

Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Arrives on the iPhone

Some of you have been waiting for 16 years to see the day when Sega finally releases the sequel of its most successful game: Sonic the Hedgehog. Available in the App Store for $9.99 (*choke cough*), Sonic 4 [iTunes link] picks up right where Sonic and Knuckles left off.

It's as fast as it ever was. The only downside I can see to this so far is the price. Let us know what you think about this new game if you decide to download it.

First iPhone 4 Film Festival Opens

You knew this was bound to happen sooner rather than later, though you probably didn't expect the first iPhone 4 Film Festival to come from Korea. To commemorate the recent launch of the iPhone 4 in South Korea, local carrier KT decided to create the very first festival that requires all competitors to film and edit their entries exclusively with an iPhone 4.

Twelve shorts by Korean directors were screened yesterday night for the opening day of this month-long event. Apparently not everybody was pleased by the capabilities of the iPhone 4...

Hulu+ App Store Reviews: Fending off the Naysayers

Hulu+ just updated their app last week, so I thought this would be a good time to address the absurd amount of negative reviews they have in the App Store.

I love Hulu+.  I got my invite August 1st and have been using the app on my iPhone 4 several times a week to watch shows — catching up with Glee while at work (shhh!), and watching the first season of Modern Family at the gym (FYI—laughing on the treadmill will immediately provoke stares and glares.)  I think the Hulu service is smart and having it readily accessible on my iPhone 4 is convenient.

So why are there so many negative reviews of it in the App Store (It’s currently at 1.5 stars)?  Most comments seem to be some variation of these complaints:

Instagram: A Beautiful Photography App And Social Network

Instagram is a new camera app for the iPhone with a focus on social networking. The app offers some wonderful, lomo-like filters to make your photos not look so crappy. There are dozens of photography apps that do this well, so what makes Instagram special?

Sharing your photos through social networking is a huge part of Instagram. The app’s developer, Kevin Systrom, descibes Instagram as not merely a camera app, but  “a community focused on helping you collect, organize, and share the images of your life from your mobile phone.” Instagram packages this community very elegantly. The look and feel is clean and fast, and there aren’t any gimmicks...

What Made You Decide to Jailbreak?

When I first got my iPhone, in December of 2008, it wasn’t long before I heard about jailbreaking. My friend, who didn’t even have an iPhone, told me I should jailbreak to do “cool stuff” to it. His friends had done it, and he thought I’d like it.

Always suspicious of peer pressure, I resisted. Jailbreaking sounded scary, dangerous, and maybe even illegal. Why would I do such a thing when the iPhone was already so awesomely awesome?

Weathericon App Subtly Reminds You That You’re Freezing Every Time You Glance at Lockscreen

One of the better jailbreak apps is WeatherIcon, available in Cydia. This app allows two things: a temperature display in the status bar, and live updates/changes to your designated weather app icon (Apple’s native weather app, The Weather Channel, Weatherbug, etc...) that reflect current weather conditions. This way you can remember it’s a dapper -14 degrees out without even unlocking your phone.

This is a clean and simple app. The temperature display in the status bar is unobtrusive (though there is an option to include a small image of current weather that takes up a little more space) and the various icon graphics for current weather are hi-res for iPhone 4 and well, accurate. Is it raining outside? Why yes, my iPhone weather icon tells me it is!

WSJ Says Apple is Working on a Verizon iPhone [We’ve Heard That Before]

The WSJ has a scoop today citing a person "briefed by Apple" who says the company will start manufacturing a new CDMA iPhone by the end of the year that would allow Verizon to sell the device beginning of 2011.

Of course, we've heard that before. Many times. Many, many, many times! So what makes this rumor different this time? Certainly not the source of the rumor, who let me remind you, is a person "briefed by Apple"...

New iPhone 4 TV Ad – It’s All About the Retina Display

There's a new iPhone 4 commercial airing since yesterday and it's all about the Retina Display. This TV ad shows the "highest resolution screen ever" in action, making everything looks "more beautiful than ever before".

This ad doesn't really differ much from previous iPhone TV ads. It has the same sappy/sweet/emotional tone that make these ads stand out from the other smartphone ads, and really make you want to buy an iPhone or at least be part of the Apple cult...

How do you like this new commercial?

The New Apple TV Costs $64 to Make

iSuppli's teardown of the new Apple TV reveals that it cost Apple only $64 to make. Now I know why the Apple TV looks and feel so cheap... It's because it is cheap! Am I the only one being disappointed by the quality of the packaging and the remote control?
