EnhancedTabs Adds Additional Functionality to Apple’s Aging Browser

The tagline in Cydia for EnhancedTabs is that it "Makes Safari's tabs much better." Despite the somewhat conceited nature of the app, I must agree.

If you're jailbroken and looking to add additional functionality to the iPhone's stock browser, this is a tweak that you're going to want to try. EnhancedTabs brings three features to the table that aim to, well, enhance your tabs...

Will GreenPois0n Be a Silver Bullet?

I am sure everyone now knows that the Chronic Dev Team has announced the new iDevice jailbreak code-named Greenpois0n will be released this Sunday 10/10/10 at 10:10:10am GMT.

The even bigger news is that according to the team, Greenpois0n will be the silver bullet that will make iDevices jailbroken forever. The team states that this new tool will be able to keep Apple from reversing the jailbreak on a permanent basis...

How to Jailbreak iPhone 3G iOS 4.1 with RedSn0w

Up until now, RedSn0w 0.9.6 beta 1 only worked on Mac, but the Dev Team just updated the infamous RedSn0w jailbreak which is now compatible with Windows. This step by step guide and tutorial will show you how to jailbreak your iPhone 3G 4.1 using RedSn0w for Windows.

It's important to note that if you've already updated to iOS 4.1 you will not be able to unlock your iPhone. If you do need to unlock and if you're not on iOS 4.1 yet, I suggest you wait for the release of PwnageTool, which will allow you to update to 4.1 while preserving the baseband, thus enabling you to use UltraSn0w to unlock.

This tutorial is for the iPhone 3G only. If you have an iPhone 3GS 4.1 that you want to jailbreak, you're going to have to wait from Comex's next jailbreak. If you have an iPhone 4 on 4.1, you will have to wait until Sunday for the release of GreenPois0n.

The Mac version of this tutorial can be found here. This being said, here is how to jailbreak your iPhone 3G 4.1 with RedSn0w...

Why I Loved Rock (and How I Could Love Cydia)

Rock's dead. We all know this. Saurik told us that the Rock developers cut corners and did things the wrong way. Still, Rock did do a few things right that would complement Cydia well.

The Real Experiences

Rock.app was a real experience. It was snappy and clean. It had a colorful and eye-friendly theme. Most importantly, it was usable during fetches and reloads. When Rock opened, here's what happened: you view the home page, navigate a bit, while fetches occurred with a small unobtrusive status indicator. Once completed, a quick refresh interrupts you, then you're good to go. You navigate to updates and the results are preloaded. The page loads quickly, if not instantly.

Apple Patents MagSafe Power Connector for iOS Devices

The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office published an interesting continuation patent application from Apple yesterday. Apple's patent says, "the connector 62 may be a power connector such as the MagSafe power connector manufactured by Apple Inc. of Cupertino, Calif. The MagSafe power connector utilizes a magnetic attraction to help retain a corresponding connector thereto."

Plenty of speculation could be made about what MagSafe charging means for iOS devices...

Fix: Netflix Streaming Error 112 on Apple TV

I just had some strange error happening on my Apple TV while trying to stream Netflix. Actually the same issue has happened all day. Anytime I tried streaming anything from Netflix, it would give me the error 112, telling me it couldn't reach Netflix.

At first I thought it was just Netflix being unavailable for a few minutes. I tried again hours later and I still got the same problem. The fix for this was pretty simple. I simply unplugged the power cable and put it back on. The Apple TV rebooted and I was able to stream Netflix again.

So now you know what to do if you ever get this error 112.

Important Note About the iPhone iOS 4.1 Unlock

Looking to unlock your iPhone running iOS 4.1? We've got some good news and some bad news for you... Let's start with the bad news, shall we?

The bad news is that if you've already updated your iPhone to iOS 4.1, you will not be able to unlock it, at least for the time being. MuscleNerd confirmed that UltraSn0w will not work on any iOS 4.1 baseband and that you cannot downgrade to a previous version.

And now for the good news...

Will GreenPois0n Be an Untethered Jailbreak?

What an exciting day! First the news that GreenPois0n will be released on Sunday. Then we learned that GreenPois0n will only work for the iPhone 4, iPad and iPod Touch 4G, and finally, the news fell that Comex is working on his own jailbreak for iPhone 3GS.

One question about the GreenPoison jailbreak remains... Will it be a tethered jailbreak, or an untethered jailbreak?

Comex Working on a New Jailbreak for iPhone 3GS

We just shared the news that the GreenPois0n jailbreak will only work for the iPhone 4, iPad, and iPod Touch 4G. However a random tipster just pointed me to this tweet from MuscleNerd saying that even though GreenPois0n won't work for the iPhone 3GS, Comex is working on developing a new jailbreak for this device.

That's indeed some good news for those of you who have an iPhone 3GS. At this point it is still unclear whether this new jailbreak by Comex will work with the iPhone 3G as well. There is absolutely no ETA for this jailbreak. I guess time will tell...

GreenPois0n Will Only Jailbreak the iPhone 4, iPad and iPod Touch 4G

We just got a bit of clarification from the Chronic Dev Team who confirmed that GreenPois0n will only jailbreak the iPhone 4, iPad, and iPod Touch 4G. The news was later confirmed by MuscleNerd who made it clear that GreenPois0n will only work for iDevices boasting Apple's A4 chip.

As a reminder, GreenPoison is supposed to ship this Sunday. We'll get those guides and tutorials published asap! In the meanwhile, stay tuned for more GreenPois0n news as it becomes available.

GreenPois0n iPhone Jailbreak to Be Released on Sunday

After weeks of expectation, we can finally tell you for sure when the GreenPois0n jailbreak for iPhone will be released. According to P0sixninja, the new jailbreak tool will be released on Sunday, October 10 at 10.10 am GMT.

This is some good news for those of you who've been on 4.1 for a while. At this time, there is no indication if GreenPois0n will be the actual name of the tool. There is also no indication whether or not it will be tethered and for what device and iOS version it will work...
