The Perfect Jailbroken iPhone iOS 8 Featured

Now that the iOS 8.4 jailbreak is out, I thought I’d create a new “Perfect Jailbroken iPhone” post for you. If you can remember, I started this series a very long time ago, and it has remained popular until this day.

Lots of people want to know what makes a perfect jailbroken iPhone. Do you need the perfect jailbreak tweaks to make a perfect iPhone? Not necessarily.

And just because a tweak or app makes this list, doesn’t means it’s my absolute favorite, or that I even use it everyday. The perfect jailbroken iPhone does not equal my favorite jailbroken iPhone.

The name of the game here is practicality, usefulness, and improvement. With these tweaks + 1 theme for good measure, I put together an all star phone capable of doing very much.

What do you think? Do you agree or disagree? Watch the video and judge for yourselves.

Asphaelia 2

This tweak can lock individual apps on your iPhone with Touch ID or with a passcode. It can secure the App Switcher, power down menu, and more. I really like the way the security animations look, and how they’re focused on each app icon that you secure.

VirtualHome 8

I included VirtualHome, because not only does it let you use your iPhone without pressing the Home button as much, but it also allows you to quickly unlock your phone without waking it beforehand. This does use a little bit of extra battery, but it’s so much faster, that I’m willing to make that compromise.

The latest iOS 9 beta removed the SwipeSelection-esque feature from the iPhone, so the usefulness of SwipeSelection is very much still relevant. But even if Apple does end up including its version of SwipeSelection, the original is superior.

3G Unrestrictor 5

Downloading apps larger than 100MB via cellular is possible with this staple tweak. Since lots of apps and games are over 100MB, I think this tweak is a no-brainer choice for the perfect jailbroken iPhone.

Safari Downloader+

Being able to download any file via Safari is wonderful. Say you’re away from the house, but you want to start downloading the latest iOS beta, so that when you get home, it’ll be ready to go. That’s just one scenario where Safari Downloader+ can come in handy.

It’s basically the Finder for iOS. That alone makes it a must-have. It also lets you easily install .deb files from tweak developers.

The best way to customize Control Center, hands-down. And the custom buttons with Activator actions is crazy-powerful. You can use this tweak just for its ability to add another icon to your app shortcut panel in Control Center, but Polus is much deeper than that if you’re willing to explore.

If you download lots of Cydia tweaks, then this tweak is one of the best things to ever happen to Cydia. It’s simply amazing how much easier it makes installing and uninstalling multiple tweaks.

CSources 2

If you’re a hardcore jailbreaker, then you probably have tons of third-party Cydia repos configured. This allows you to individually enable, disable, and backup your entire body of sources. Absolutely instrumental for serious jailbreakers.

Android Solid

This is my one guilty pleasure on this list. To me, Android Solid makes the Wi-Fi and cellular signal bars look way better. I felt compelled to include at least one theme, and this was it. There are tons of other themes out there to try, but I feel that looks are so much more subjective than raw functionality, so I kept theming limited to this selection for the perfect jailbroken iPhone.

What do you think about this list? Do you agree with my 10 selections? Keep in mind that I have lots of other jailbreak favorites, but If I had to pick 10 tweaks to permanently keep with me, and I could never add any others, these would be a hard 10 to pass up.

    Activator is a must!!

    • Yeah, that goes without saying. It’s such a staple, and required by so many tweaks, that I just assume everyone has it already.

    • Valinor

I actually have 42 tweaks installed and none of them use Activator.
So its not a must 😛

  • Stephen

Jeff’s so brave, he uses his iPhone in the rain

    • *stares off in the distance with one eyebrow raised*

      • Mohammad Ridwan

Now do a video for The perfect jailbroken iPad: iOS 8 edition

      • Arjan Vlek

I know it is off topic, but I want to mention to you that your site crashes frequently on my iPad 4, non-jail broken, running iOS 8.4. It says that the page was reloaded because of a problem….

      • M_Hawke

That’s a problem on the mini iPads, I didn’t know it was also happening on the iPad 4s. I don’t think it is because of iDownloadBlog’s website. It happens to me on a variety of websites and is just a known problem with Safari and mini iPads. Don’t know about your iPad 4, though. You might want to do an Internet search on that.

      • Arjan Vlek

AFAIK my iPad runs out of memory and has to reload the page. The Reatina display might have to do with it as the larger resolution requires more ram. Still wish I could “download more ram” but as we all know it’s not possible!

      • Jerry

And I thought I was the only one that used his iPhone in the rain lol. People look at me like I’m crazy

    • iLegend

Jeff uses the tweak called iRain.

  • Wicrowe

You eat what you like and I’ll eat what I like!

    • Alberto Espinal

      I like that saying

  • blastingbigairs

Don’t forget TetherMe, BetterFiveIconDock, KillBackground, UnlimTones, MusicBox, and of course MovieBox.

    • Ch Waqar

thankuu so much bro , moviebox is great

    • Ryion S.

iTransmission! Don’t forget that one! (For stuff you can’t find on Moviebox! Which ain’t usually a problem) I wouldn’t call this a necessity but for those who use apps like these listed on blastingbigairs comment it’s a great tool! Oh and if you don’t know what iTransmission is or does, then that’s(hint: it’s a torrent downloader, dubbed after Transmission on Mac) probably for the best.

  • I still think Infinidock should make, and never leave this list. Ever.

    • Alberto Espinal

      I dont think its updated

      • True, it hasn’t for a long time, but it’s still working flawlessly for me.

      • Kelvin Lieu

i have fiveicondock installed and it doesn’t work. not sure if it is the culprit but have a feeling it is

      • blastingbigairs

For IOS 8 you need BetterFiveIconDock, it works perfectly.

      • Kelvin Lieu

i have betterfiveicondock but i wanted to use it with infinidock but it doesn’t work. any way i could have both of them working together?

      • Tylor Jackson

I like it colors badges. What is name tweak?

      • Regi Ansyah

  • John

    No Intelliscreen x Jeff?

    • Gabriel Anaya

No way. I stopped using that a long time ago. So many little issues and the devs flat out refuse to make ISX compatible with other tweaks, like guest mode. I’ve dropped it since and I wish I had my 10$ back honestly.

    • It’s good, but doesn’t belong in this list IMO.

    • Roy Chang

the worse tweak ever, battery hog and bad bad BAD customer service

      • AndyDontCare

Miss the old Lockinfo days on ios4. That was the whole reason I jailbreaked. Now I just use ios’s notification center as it isn’t much different.

  • mhchehade

Jeff, my imovie is crashing because of winterboard, any solutions? Thanks

  • Alberto Espinal

    Mine is this

  • Preben Faarkrog Hansen

No, no, no…Not!! perfect before a Mac version of TaiG Tool.

    • Mr_Coldharbour

It’s just looking unlikely mate. Believe me, I want a Mac version of every jailbreak tool more than the next person! But I did the virtual machine way and it worked perfectly. Just install VMware Fusion7 and Windows 10 Insider Preview, you can find all the download links here on IDB and get right on it. TaiG won’t make a Mac version, that’s the way it looks to me at least. Do it before Apple releases an update that effectively kills the jailbreak. I restored to 8.3 and jailbroke my iPhone 6 a mere day and a half before they closed the signing window, why 8.3? Because I hate the new Music app and don’t care about Apple Music. Only teams involved in jailbreaking now and releasing Mac versions are the Pangu Team and PP (but they’re sketchy to me). Bear the brunt for 40mins-1hr but at least you’ll be jailbroken, don’t wait on TaiG, they don’t seem to care about Mac users (at least to me). Do it before it’s too late.

  • Jerry

What I don’t likes about jailbreaking is that when you back up restore on a new firmware you have to start from scratch and lose all your pictures and videos. Yeah you can manually back up it up but it’ll never be in the same order.

    • Mike Colacone Saal

I use icloud photo library in the photos settings. Works like a charm. Syncs across all devices and great for restores

      • Jerry

You have to pay for the data you back up tho no? :/

    • ahmed

Actually no. I’ve updated and did a jailbreak many times over the years Abd I never had to start from scratch unless I wanted to. You back up the iPhone. Update. ITunes restores your iPhone just the way it was. Then you jailbreak and that’s that. You do have to download the jailbreak tweaks though but I think that not a very bad thing since it lets refresh things a bit, discover new tweaks, etc..

      • Jerry

Won’t using a back up of a jailbroken iPhone make it buggy? Let’s say I my phone is jailbroken and I backed it up. New update arrives so I want to upgrade. I upgrade then restore from the backup which was jailbroken before and now I want to jailbreak the phone abain. Will that not cause comflict? Or bugs that slows it down

      • ahmed

You backup through iTunes which doesn’t back up anything related to the jailbreak. Only your files, apps, music, etc…
And when you update the software, the jailbreak and all that’s related to it gets deleted automatically. Then you restores all your files back and you’ll have your phone updated and all your files back. And then you can jailbreak it again if you want. There won’t be conflicts or mix ups or anything, they are completely separate processes

      • Jerry

Nice! Time to jailbreak again! I used to restore and start from fresh every time thinking files went over from the last jailbreak and would conflict with my new update

      • ‘Ariff

it’s awesome how negative this thread started off. Good for you Jerry! Welcome back.

      • deepdvd

“… and all that’s related to it gets deleted automatically.” Actually, that’s not true, but it’s still unlikely to cause conflicts. At least until you jailbreak again. You might be surprised to see your settings already in place for a number of your tweaks.

      • Jerry

For that reason is that I thought that files carried over would conflict with the new ones.

      • KP

I don’t think this is particularly true. I’ve noticed lots of tweaks that I install after this process have the same settings applied as they did from my backup. iTunes DOES back up some Cydia related stuff, and I’ve heard this causes issues for some people as well..

      • ahmed

I totally forgot about that. You’re right, I did notice that some jailbreak tweaks had their settings restored, so I guess the iTunes backup does indeed store some of the jailbreak information. However, I haven’t noticed any issues from restoring and re-jailbreaking.

    • Shadowelite123

Uhh I’ve updated my iPhone from jailbroken state to fresh stock iOS without a restore.

  • Sohail Wahab

No iPhone is perfect with Auxo 3 which is way smoother on iOS 8.3 and 8.4 by the way

    • Diego

I still waiting for they update auxo3 for 8.4
      not got here yet

      • Eliijah Moss

I’m using vex and auxo legacy edition. It does great for the most part. No problems at all. You should use this for the time being.

      • Diego

I don’t like Auxo Legacy, I wanna Auxo 3 back.

That is why sometimes I prefrer to use cracked tweaks, if you pay for the developers and then the iOS got updated, you get stuck with a incompatible tweak untill the developer decide to update. And this can take a while.

      • Shadowelite123

Actually if you pay for tweaks they can still be installed even if the developer doesn’t have it labeled as compatible for the latest jailbreakable iOS version.

  • InfinitePlusOne

Should I update to iOS9 beta public or stay on 8.4. Which will they release Apple Pay in the UK on?

    • Diego

8.4 definitely, on iOS 9 you can’t jailbreak, and that is not good ;D

  • AnoNymouz

Has anyone else had random vibrating issues? After I did the jailbreak, when I use the vibrate switch it won’t vibrate and then eventually start vibrating on and off. I don’t know if it’s the jailbreak a tweak (status vol x) or iOS 8.4 bug… Anyone?

    • Fermin

This has been happening to me as well, but I have a feeling it has something to do with the mute switch? I don’t think it’s working properly…

      • AnoNymouz

It seems like with the smallest wiggle of the switch after activated, it does it. Either way I’m going back to apple for switch replacement… not phone.

  • Nur Ayuyati Binti Salem

    I miss biteSms, anyone else?

    • noracuts

  • Matt

Hmm I dunno. I think mine is the perfect iPhone. 😛

    • Eliijah Moss

Can you share your wall paper please? I love to see people with interesting wall papers.

      • Matt

        Here you go

      • Eliijah Moss

Thank you so much. It complements my theme and lock screen.

    • Erick Reyes

Can you share the themes and tweaks used here?

    • Fermin

Nice setup! I like your quote. What theme are you using?

    • please share all the tweaks (setup).

    • hamzi asgher

      Hey whats your theme called?

    • Bosh

What is that theme (or themes)? I want that my phone to look like that so bad (icons, fonts, weather, etc).

  • Movie box is a must. It’s pretty much the only reason I jailbreak now.

    • you can use torrent

      • That doesn’t even compare to movie box. Fym?

      • Torrent is better bigger and have evry thing

      • I disagree. While torrents have everything, movie box has just about anything worth watching and is easier to use.

  • Ermek Djuzenov

How about bloard, archer, springtomize, alkaline, color badges, locaIIap store, lockglyph, little brother, tiny bar, wifi booster etc

  • Mr_Coldharbour

NoAnnoyance by _pNre should be on there too. Allows you to disable annoying system pop-ups like “Turn Off Airplane Mode” , “Cellular Data required” , “Turn on location services…” and those annoying blue dots that appear next to an app once it’s update. I think this tweak is very noteworthy.

  • mahe

I think it all depends how you use your phone and what you want to do with it.
None of the named tweaks are on my phone, my must haves are completely different.

AlarmVolume, Auxo LE, ExchangePolicyCleaner, ForceGoodFit, LittleBrother, NCObey, NoSlowAnimations, OnlyOneNotification, TypeStatus, TypingPrivacy
Are my top10, beside of tweaks for the look like Cloaky, ColorBadges, …

Bio Protect is way more better than BioLockDown and Asphaelia 2

  • Valinor

    I prefer Filza over iFile.

  • f1ght3r

Asphaeleia is still buggy as of yet. I use Bioprotect and it works flawlessly.

  • Furrnace

I’m pretty happy with this setup.

    • Furrnace

And some essentials that I think make a perfect jailbreak are CCSettings, Activator, LockGlyph, MultiIconMover, Springtomize 3 (can’t believe that wasn’t mentioned here), StatusTime+, Winterboard, and Zeppelin.

    • Connecting Mac User 

Guy, what’s the name of your theme?

      • Furrnace

      • Furrnace

But I also have the Android Solid wifi and signal like Jeff B. suggests. And I use StatusTime+ to get the date. Battery is Bolus Alkaline theme.

  • Erick Reyes

Asphaleia is not playing nice with Virtual Home. How you have them set up Jeff?

  • Christian

Well I guess Jeff forgot something call Tage 2014 Tweak of the year. Its a most have tweak on any iPhone.

  • T. Allen

Been “perfect” if BiteSMS was one of the tweaks. Truly miss that one!

  • Glauber Mello

And bioprotect ? You need to do another video, because bioprotect is mandatory! It prevents anyone to turn off your iPhone, only you can turn off you iPhone because a Touch ID is needed to turn off.

  • 空白

I use Ayecon for my status bar.

  • Adam

Apex is a must. My setup below

  • ShawnTXDFW

    Here’s mine. 😉

  • Valinor

I installed virtualhome 8 yesterday. My battery drained so quickly today, without using my phone that much.

  • bd14u

when I install Winterboard in my iPhone 6 with ios 8.4 I cannot see the tweaks I have installed and it seems like the tweaks are not working. how to fix this?

  • justyoungprince

    check out my theme 🙂

  • Neel Parikh
