LockSmoother+

If you have an especially good-looking Lock screen wallpaper, perhaps you find it annoying when iOS clutters it up with all of its Lock screen UI elements. If so, then LockSmoother+ is something that you may want to give a shot. It’s a $0.99 jailbreak tweak that just became available today on Cydia’s BigBoss repo. As its name states, LockSmoother’s goal is to provide a smoother and sleeker looking Lock screen that can compliment beautiful wallpaper. But does it work?

LockSmoother+ features several sections and switches in its preferences to help you smooth out the look of the iOS Lock screen. To find the preferences, venture over to the stock Settings app and locate the panel for LockSmoother+.

Inside its preferences, you’ll see four sections: General, Advanced, Lockpad Options, and Other Options. The General section contains a single kill-switch for the tweak, so you’ll be spending the majority of your time customizing the look of LockSmoother in the Advanced and Lockpad Options sections.

The Advanced section features label customization, status bar modifications, and grabber tweaks. Here is where you’ll be able to really change the look of the standard iOS 8 Lock screen. By enabling most of the switches in the Advanced section, you can obtain a highly minimal look on your Lock screen—perfect for complimenting elaborate Lock screen wallpaper.

The LockPad Options tab is there to customize the passcode screen. Here, you can modify the circle diameter and width of the passcode PIN fields, and hide the emergency and cancel buttons as well. Unlike other sections, you may need to respring when adjusting the hide preferences in the Lockpad settings page. Of all of the options to adjust within LockSmoother+, I found the LockPad options to be the most finicky by far. In fact, I couldn’t get the Emergency and Cancel buttons to hide no matter what I did. I also noticed that these buttons appeared to be cut off at the bottom of the passcode lock interface.

Lastly, there’s the Other options section. There are two basic switches to be found here: Remove Shadow—a switch to remove the darkening effect while sliding the Lock screen—and Remove Notifications Separator—a self explanatory option to simplify the look of notifications.

The tweak isn’t the prettiest tweak when it comes to setup, as it mostly consist of a bunch of switches, but it does do a fairly decent job of explaining what the switches do. There are some bugs present, especially with the LockPad options, but if you’re a Touch ID user, chances are you rarely see the passcode Lock screen anyway.

If you’re looking to smooth out the look of the Lock screen, then you could certainly do worse than LockSmoother+. You can find it for $0.99 on Cydia’s BigBoss repo. What do you think about it?

Great tweak, there is nothing better than a simple and a smooth lock screen!!

  • iXanczy

I like it, but imo GrandLS and HideMe8 is far more enjoyable 😀

    • kokeropie

What tweak are you using for the status bar? It looks nice 🙂

      • iXanczy

        It’s a mixture between Zeppelin(no icon), Alkaline and the Heartless8 theme 😀

      • avd98

        Theme?? Awesome dude

      • iXanczy

        Heartless8
        Totally worth the 2.50$ 😀

      • iXanczy

(Or find it on the hackyouriphone repo (but don’t)) 😀

    • Varun Soi

      What’s that battery theme mate?

      • iXanczy

        It’s called Heartless 🙂

  • Perditon

    Subtle lock+forecast >>>>>

    • iXanczy

      Wow, that looks sharp 🙂

    • Nicolò Blasi

I’m The LS developer. Nice combination, but if you want something like that why don’t you switch to android? Anyway, the goal of LS is to sleek your lockscreen while maintaining the original iOS look.

      • Norbi Whitney

        Because he wants an iPhone….

      • Victor

I respectfully disagree with that line of thought. Only reason I own an iPhone is because of this (hidden) flexibility you get from jailbreaking. He has a custom, practical lockscreen along with all the advantages of iOS…

      • Nicolò Blasi

I agree on that. I was ironic in fact. Just meant that the scope of LockSmoother+ is to make the lockscreen more elegant and simple, not to customize it, like SubtleLock does.

        Hope you understand 🙂

      • Victor

I see. Elegant and simple is always welcome!

    • xTc5oh8

I like the way you think.

I’ve been loving Forecast + GrandLS, and although I have some awesome wallpapers I enjoy having the animated weather background enabled. If only the forecast dev would add the ability to apply the animations over your own wallpaper, that would be FANTASTIC to say the least.

  • Geekhound

    Simple and smooth!

      • Ishaan Malhotra

You mean the clock? Check the comments below:)

      • Diance

      • Geekhound

        Here

      • Zues

They don’t show up. Can’t see them

  • john diaz

I like the idea of making your lock screen minimalistic but at the same time i would like to see the date my battery percentage my reception etc once in a while so maybe there should be a way that can allow you to quickly display the things that are hidden for a few seconds and then it can go back to the minimalistic view.

    • Nicolò Blasi

Hmm, this seems like a nice idea, I’ll probably implement it in the next LS+ updates!

      • john diaz

Thanks and great work with this tweak.

      • Nicolò Blasi

        No problem!

      • Andrew

Similar to that, I’d love if you could only show certain status bar icons on the lock screen. Like, I don’t need to know that Bluetooth is on, but I’d like to check my battery percentage, but I also don’t need to see the battery logo.

  • I intelliscreen has won me over

    • Brandon Miranda

What’s the name of the tweak that puts the messages icon in your status bar? I had it but lost it and forgot the name!

      • its part of intelliscreen. I recall the tweak you mention. will have to dig up the name

      • Brandon Miranda

Yeah it would tell me if/when someone read my message and whether or not they were typing.

      • Guest

        that was PRE 7 wasn’t it ?

      • that was pre ios 7 right ? I gave up here is how I am now

      • Brandon Miranda

I had it on iOS 7

  • Diance

    thanks a lot!
