Do you have a couple of apps that you just can’t live without? Do you find yourself wishing for a way to launch them directly without hitting your Home screen?

If you fit the above criteria, then check out this video preview of AppSlider. This is an upcoming jailbreak tweak that lets you specify two app shortcuts for your Lock screen…

Configuring your favorite two apps is just a a matter of visiting the settings panel for AppSlider located within the Settings app.

For those wondering how this works when you have a passcode enabled, don’t worry; it respects the passcode security and it won’t launch an app until the passcode is entered successfully.

AppSlider is in development by Ron Melkhior, and should be available for free on Cydia in the near future. We’ll let know know once it’s available.

What do you think of AppSlider thus far?

    locksliderz is better i think

  • I use locksliderz for this. It’s available now and works good. Supports more than 2 apps and has a few other tweak options.

it would be bad@ss if you can do more then 2 buttons for this new tweaks

  • Hey Jeff is this app dependent on the evil winterboard? Thanks

    • No, you just need PreferenceLoader and AppList. Winterboard isn’t needed.

      • Thanks pal. Since we can’t restore whenever we want I’m very cautions what I install on my 4S, especially if it’s a heavy substrate.

    • “the evil winterboard” lol

How does it affect double tapping for the camera shortcut. How does a review of the lock screen tweak not address this. Terrible review.

    • The tweak disables the camera button.

Hey Ron, love the tweak dude.

Have had an idea for a similar tweak for some time now. Give me a shout to discuss whether possible or not..

Does it play nice with android lock xt?

    • I don’t think there should be any problems.

looks nice, but it would be in the way of my lockinfo

  • using springtomizer and placing camera app on lockscreen is more than sufficient….

I just use Activator. Slide up from bottom right on lock screen to launch YouMail, slide up from bottom left to launch biteSMS, and double tap clock to launch the phone app. I guess it looks kinda cool to have the app icons on the lock screen……But I don’t think I don’t think I’ll be using this one.
