‘IconRotator’ rotates your iPhone’s app icons based on orientation

They say the simple things in life are some of the best things in life. They also say the best things in life are free.

IconRotator is both.

It’s been a while since we’ve seen a simple tweak that was this cool, but then again it was created by developer extraordinaire Ryan Petrich — I guess we shouldn’t be too surprised…

IconRotator rotates your app icons depending on your device’s orientation, so that they always face upright. It doesn’t change your swipe orientation, just the way the app icons are oriented in relation to the way you hold your iPhone.

You won’t find this tweak on Cydia’s default repos, but you will find it for free on Petrich’s beta repo located here: http://rpetri.ch/repo/

    Is it just me (or my iPhone) or the icons lose a bit of their definition, like without focus?

        They are normal when the phone is upright, but when I rotate it to the left or to the right, they seem to lose focus like I said. I uninstalled it, but I don’k know if I will install again.

    hey, i installed the blurred NC background, and after opening the NC and closing it many times, it seems to be eating the memory on my ipod 4… Any clues of to why thats happening?

    Ram seems to drop 2 MB each time i open the nc… And after many uses, i need to re-spring cause the ipod becomes unavalible to run any app

    I tried the one from bigboss and from Ryan Petrich’s and they both have that problem

      Noticed the same thing! Someting is leaking memory really bad! Not sure what exactly yet…

        the only thing i could think of is that the tweak is storing the images it uses for the blur in the memory, and it dosent remove it…

        Yep, it doesn’t clear it, “leaking it” to memory. Confirmed.
        Gonna send a mail do the dev to see what happens.

    I remember this same tweak years ago. I dont think it ever made it past beta tho. It was like 1.0 days lol anybody else remember it?

      It’s driving me nuts I can’t remember the name either. Remember the iphone concept video of the icons rotating in a barrel type way also?

        Well, a lot of work has been put in to that tweak. I’m grateful someone made it and gave me a chance to buy it.

        I’d say you are the greedy one, demanding it to be free.

        You dont pay and support developers do you? You’re a disgrace to the jailbreak community.

        True…… It isn’t that easy cause Intelliscreen X requires a license…… It’s not the average jailbreak tweak…

    Unfortunately, when I swipe a to different page on my home screen (while in landscape), all the icons return to portrait mode and stay that way on all pages. Anyone else having this problem?

    It doesn’t work well with springtomize thats a big issue coz a lot of people have springtomize.

    Tried it briefly. Seemed cute but didnt see a need for it. A little flashy for me. I don’t want to junk up my phone with usless tweaks that will cause conflicts. I would probably activate it if it were standard in the ios software.

    Nice tweak though.

    It would be even cooler if it actually followed the orientation in any direction, so not in 90degree steps. But that would probably be a battery hog. :-)

    Something Like SBRotator 5, except that bugs out a lot. Eitherit should be fixed or Ryan should make the docks and folers rotate too just like an iPad
