Wallpapers of the week: Apple hardware

Next week, Apple is set to reveal new hardware to its line up. With media invitations announcing the March 21 event, speculation continues to mount. Expected hardware allegedly includes the anticipated 4" flagship iPhone SE, a 9.7" iPad Pro, formerly the iPad Air, and likely new bands for Apple Watch. Some are calling the forthcoming event a sleeper, but once Tim Cooks steps on stage, there could be some surprises.

March 21 Apple event wallpapers: “Let us loop you in”

On Thursday, March 10, Apple sent invitations for their media event, "Let us loop you in," to be held on Monday, March 21. The event is said to reveal a completely new handset, dubbed the iPhone SE. In addition, a refresh of the iPad Air is expected to bring the device more in-line with iPad Pro. Finally, there is a potential for new Apple Watch accessories, specifically bands, and updates to the operating systems for OS X, iOS, and Watch OS.

The invitation, which always includes an image, will no doubt send the blogosphere reeling with guesses about hidden images that are allegedly included. Each week, we provide a fresh set of iOS device wallpapers. Subjects range from graphic creations, to mixed media and natural photography. Trying to keep the genres random, check back weekly for updates in the Wallpapers of the Week section! This week, we turn toward the city, as recently previous wallpapers were more nature-focused.

Gathering a short list of cityscape wallpapers, the images were curated from individual profiles via Interfacelift.com. Including modern industrial to vintage Venice, this week's selection highlights some incredible photography skills.

The Wallpapers of the Week section continues with a reader submitted image. Throughout the week, we glean through different repositories, looking for just the right images to feature on Sundays. Considering reader-submitted images is part of the curation process. Wallpapers are best when they are properly formatted for the latest iOS devices and photo quality. Consequently, the most popular wallpapers are not ones someone just happened to snap on their latest beach vacation.

Available now for Steam and Playstation 4, Firewatch is a new action adventure puzzler set in 1989. Manning an outpost, Henry descends into the wilderness, exploring an unknown environment. Receiving acclaim for its stunning visual imagery, Firewatch is the focus of our Wallpapers of the Week.

Staring at our phones for hours each day, it is easy to forget the natural beauty around us. Knowing we are not going to give up our device habits, simply bring nature to your device. Wallpapers of the week: Photos app icon inspiration

Often, the Wallpapers of the Week section is a compilation of images found around the Internet and wallpapers sent to me for consideration from iDB readers. Last week's images were the best user-submitted images of 2015 and I encourage you to visit the collection!

It is always fun to feature the work of an avid iDB reader and, today, we highlight several walls from @bart172_, Giulio. He explained, the stock Photos app icon and the 2015 WWDC invitation art inspired the three wallpaper designs. You can see, the pinwheel design is present on both of Apple's renderings and carries through to the wallpapers.
