With less than 24 hours left until first iPhone 7 shipments start hitting customers' doorsteps, YouTuber Marques Brownlee has put together a nice unboxing video featuring both new black options for the device, a supper glossy variant called Jet Black and its matte counterpart, referred to by Apple as simply Black.

The video offers interesting observations regarding the RAM, CPU performance, non-moving Home button and a new “Choose Your Click” Home button option.

New Surface Pro 4 ad pokes fun of the Mac because it doesn’t have a touchscreen

Microsoft over the weekend fired another ad salvo at Apple's tablet/computer strategy with a new (somewhat) amusing commercial. Simple titled “Get the Surface Pro,” the 30-second ad highlights Microsoft's Surface Pro 4 hybrid device which includes a stylus and comes with a detachable keyboard and an Intel chip allowing it to be transformed into a computer that runs Windows, Office and other real desktop applications.

Using the same singer from the previous commercial, the new video informs us that “If you try to write on a plain old Mac, the difference can be seen. It doesn't work.”

4 ways to listen to music while charging your iPhone 7

In case you haven't already figured it out, the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus both do completely away with the 3.5mm headphone jack. Instead, Apple is now pushing the industry to use Lightning-based and wireless Bluetooth headphones and speakers.

So with that in mind, how will you possibly use your existing headphones and speakers with your new iPhone while you're trying to charge it? Well we've got four solutions for you that will get your mind off of the missing headphone jack.

Roundup: first impressions of Apple Watch Series 2, iPhone 7 & AirPods

Following its big iPhone 7 event this morning, Apple gave journalists the opportunity to go hands-on with some of the new products it announced today including the iPhone 7, Apple Watch Series 2, and AirPods. And as usual, we've rounded up some videos of these first impressions so you can get a better look at the new hardware.

Watch the product videos from today’s iPhone 7 event

Apple has posted the product videos shown during today's iPhone 7 event to its YouTube channel. Included in the spots are clips showing off the Apple Watch Series 2, the iPhone 7, and the all-new, wireless, in-ear headphones it's calling "AirPods."

Of course if you missed the keynote this morning, we recommend watching a replay of it in its entirety, or at the very least check out this humorous highlight reel. But for folks who just want to get to the meat of the event, these videos will do the trick.

You can now watch a replay of today’s iPhone 7 event

Folks who missed today's iPhone 7 and Apple Watch 2 event, or would just like to watch it again, will be happy to hear that Apple has posted the full video online for your streaming pleasure. Obviously you can read everything you need to know about today’s event right here on iDB, but if you have the time, the video is worth watching.

How it’s made: black iPhone 7

I'm sure you know that Apple's new iPhone 7 series brings two new finishes to the mix, replacing the previous Space Gray colorway.

Both are black, but one gives you classic anodized matte appearance while the other results in a highly glossy look and feel. The matte one is called simply Black and the glossy is referred to as Jet Black.

Wondering how they're made?

Good, because Apple's now shared a video in which it shows off a brand new manufacturing process it had to develop in order to create these new dark looks.

Apple compresses its own keynote into a funny 107-second video

Didn't have the time to sit through Apple's presentation and don't plan on watching it on your own time either? In the old days, you'd go to YouTube and search for “Apple keynote in 60 seconds,” “120 seconds”, ”180 seconds” or some such.

Well, there's no need for that anymore.

You heard me right: believe it or not, Apple itself has now created a condensed version of its own keynote presentation. It's aptly named “Don't Blink” and you really gotta see it: it's amusing, put together really well and just a nice throwback to those super-compressed keynote videos created by fans the world over.

No, the new iPhones don’t capture 4K video in 60 FPS as was rumored

We now know that a Vietnamese site which said it had used a real iPhone 7 and made claims that the device would be capable of shooting 4K video at a silky smooth 60 FPS, was lying to us.

Apple's just wrapped up its iPhone 7 presentation, press releases are up on the site, the store is back online and we can clearly see that the iPhone 7 Technical Specifications webpage states in black and white that the much-enhanced camera system on both new phones still captures 4K video at 30 FPS, just like the iPhone 6/6s series.
