Apple wants original content and its SVP Eddy Cue is in charge of making that happen. Cue sat down last night for an interview with Peter Kafka of Recode, discussing a range of topics at the publication's Code Media conference.

Ben Winston, one of the producers of Apple's upcoming Carpool Karaoke spinoff, appeared onstage as a surprise guest and played a new promotional clip for the show—just 24 hours after Apple released the first Carpool Karaoke trailer on YouTube.

Photo Tools is an all-in-one customization tweak for the Photos app

Photos App Icon iOS

It feels like the Photos app continues to become more cluttered with features that everyday users really don’t even use in every major iteration of iOS. At least for me, I find myself really only ever using the Albums view in the Photos app to get to my most important stuff. I don’t ever really utilize the People or Places albums, nor do I ever use the Memories or Shared tabs.

For anyone who feels like they're in a similar boat and miss the simplicity of the Photos app as a simple album-based Photo Library viewer, a new free jailbreak tweak called Photo Tools by Justin Petkovic might be able to give you exactly what you’re looking for.

Apple this morning shared a pair of new commercials through its official YouTube channel. Titled “Creek” and “Soul Mate,” the 30-second videos focus on depth of field photography made possible by the dual-lens system on iPhone 7 Plus and the accompanying Portrait shooting mode in the stock Camera application.

Be sure to watch the new ads and tell us how you liked them in comments.

Watch Apple’s star-laden trailer for Apple Music’s upcoming Carpool Karaoke show

Apple during last night's Grammy Awards ceremony aired a trailer for its upcoming Carpool Karaoke spinoff, saying it's coming soon without committing to a specific air date for the show. It will be exclusively distributed to Apple Music members.

The show will feature unlikely celebrity pairings, like Metallica and game show host Billy Eichner or wrestler John Cena and cager Shaquile O'Neal.

Premium entertainment network Epix today announced its new app for the fourth-generation Apple TV is now available for download on App Store. YouTube creators with 10,000+ subscribers can now stream live on mobile

Google-owned YouTube announced on Tuesday that creators who have more than 10,000 subscribers can now stream live video on mobile. This feature has been built directly into YouTube's mobile app for iOS and Android. If you're a YouTube creator with 10,000 subscribers, launch the app and hit the capture button to start streaming instantly. Streamed videos have all the same features as regular YouTube videos, meaning they can be searched for, found via recommendations or playlists and protected from unauthorized use.

Apple posts Shot on iPhone 7 ad ‘One Night’

Apple late Monday posted a new ad to its YouTube channel called 'One Night—Shot on iPhone 7.' The clip, which first popped up on Apple's website last month, shows a number of photos and videos taken using Apple's latest handset.

In the description of the YouTube post, Apple says the commercial features content from 16 photographers, in 15 cities, on 6 continents, taken in one night. The song you hear playing the background is SnowFall by Ahmad Jamal Trio.

YouTube app adds Chromecast playback controls to Lock screen, Control Center & Apple Watch

Google's official YouTube for iPhone and iPad app has picked up a trio of compelling new features in its most recent update on App Store. Bumped to version 12.03, the free of charge software adds handy Chromecast controls to Control Center and your iOS device's Lock screen, and to your wrist via Apple Watch. The playback controls only appear when you're streaming videos from Chromecast devices, smart TVs, game consoles or any other living room devices that run the YouTube app.

Facebook working on video-focused app for Apple TV and other set-top boxes

Facebook is reportedly working on a video-focused app for media-streaming boxes such as Apple's fourth-generation Apple TV, according to a new report from The Wall Street Journal. Last October, the social network launched a feature allowing users to stream videos from the mainland Facebook mobile app to their TVs via Apple TV. Tuning into television's market with a dedicated streaming app of its own would help the company tap more ad dollars.

Which W1 chip-equipped audio device should you get?

Because Apple nixed the 3.5mm headphone jack from the bottom of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, you either have to use the supplied Lightning dongle for backwards compatibility with your 3.5mm audio accessories, or you have to kick it up to the new age with a pair of wireless or Lightning-enabled audio devices instead.

When you don’t want to be bothered with the issue of charging your device at the same time you're listening to audio with headphones or earbuds in, the obvious choice is to go wireless. While there are tons of options, only a few come with Apple’s brand new W1 chip, which supports the slick new Bluetooth pairing process. Among those are AirPods, Beats Solo3, and Powerbeats3.

If you’re in a predicament and can’t decide between the three then you should find this piece helpful, because I'll be comparing the strengths and weaknesses of each from a variety of angles.
