A simple tweak that prevents Home screen bookmarks from being deleted

How many times have you mistakenly deleted one of your Home screen bookmarks on your iOS device? If that has happened to you in the past, then you may want to check out this new jailbreak tweak called BookLock.

Unfortunately, the developer of BookLock felt that this functionality was worth a $1.00 on Cydia's BigBoss repo. A dollar for a tweak that features nothing more than a single toggle to prevent Home screen bookmark deletion? Seriously? My advice to you is to just be careful when deleting items on your device...

How to create your own custom pop up alert on the iPhone

Let's just file this one under the "who in the world would ever find a use for this?" category. MakeMyPopup is a brand new jailbreak tweak that allows you to create your own pop up notifications on the iPhone.

The problem with MakeMyPopup isn't that it only allows you to create one singular pop up notification. It isn't that pop up notifications are ugly, and have all but been replaced by banner notifications. The issue with MakeMyPopup is that it does absolutely nothing; it has no usable function outside of the fact that it fakes your own customizable pop up.

The question stands to be asked: Just who would use this? Would you?

How to add a tab button to the Notes app

No matter how many times I attempt to find an alternative to the Notes app, I always find myself migrating back to it eventually. I'm not sure why this, but I think my mind is simply programmed to go for the Notes app when I need to jot something down.

If you're a jailbreaker, then you can rely on one of the many jailbreak tweak developers to implement enhanced features into the Notes app. NotesTab is the latest such example of a jailbreak tweak that adds a specific enhancement to the bare bones app — in this case a handy tab button for quick indentions.

‘Check’ allows you to select a range of emails more efficiently

Check is a new jailbreak tweak that allows you to select a range of emails on the iPhone or iPad's stock mail app in a more efficient manner. Instead of selecting each email one-by-one, Check utilizes a new tap and hold shortcut to make it simpler to select a range of emails.

If you're an avid email user on the iPhone or the iPad, and you happen to be jailbroken, then you should definitely check out our hands-on video walkthrough...

CoverMeNot doubles the status bar height for improved banner notifications

CoverMeNot is a brand new jailbreak tweak that does something extremely simple, yet just as brilliant — it doubles the height of your status bar when a notification banner appears on screen. This prevents the banner from covering up the content on your iPhone — hence the name.

Once the banner notification times out, the status bar is resized back to normal. If you're tired of incoming banner notifications covering up your on screen content, then you need to try CoverMeNot...

Embedded YouTube videos not working on your iPhone? Try this fix

Don't you just hate it when you see this dreaded image in the place where a YouTube video is supposed to be embedded? If you consistently have this issue, then there is a fair chance you have your YouTube app hidden via a jailbreak tweak, or you have restrictions enabled. Restrictions can be enabled without a jailbreak.

As it turns out, having the YouTube app hidden can result in embedded videos being replaced with the image above. YouTube videos on the actual YouTube site will still play fine regardless, but embedded videos can give you problems if your stock YouTube app is hidden, or you have restrictions enabled.

Check inside for a video walkthrough on how to apply the easy fixes.

How to use Google voice search from anywhere on your iPhone

VoiceSearch is a relatively new jailbreak tweak that allows you to perform Google voice searches from anywhere using a simple Activator action.

Obviously VoiceSearch can't replace all of the functionality that Siri brings to the table on the iPhone 4S, and upcoming iOS 6 update for the new iPad, but it is a somewhat decent holdover for non Siri-enabled devices...

Tiny Wings 2 set to hit iOS on July 12th

Back in May, Tiny Wings creator Andreas Illiger told reporters that the world could expect a sequel to his popular mobile game "within 3 weeks." But those 3 weeks came and went, and we haven't heard a peep.

Then yesterday, Illiger finally broke the silence by releasing a Tiny Wings 2 teaser trailer. And while the video doesn't give much information away regarding the game, we have to admit, it's pretty fun to watch...

My experience with Uber

Two weeks ago, I ventured up to Chicago to try Uber for the first time. Uber, of course, is the personal driving service which allows you to use your mobile phone to request a private driver. It started in San Francisco a little over two years ago, and has since then made its way to the Windy City and various other locales.

Hearing nothing but positive things about the service, I was anxious to head to the nearest city with Uber availability. Fortunately, that city is Chicago, a place that I have grown to love over the past few years.

And as it turns out, Uber is an absolute perfect match for Chicago. Passengers love it, but what’s even more interesting is that the drivers themselves seem even more ecstatic about the rapidly growing service...

Speero now available on Cydia

Speero — a system management utility for the iPad that we previewed last week — is now available for download on Cydia's BigBoss repo for $0.99.

This is an iPad exclusive tweak that allows you to kill apps, launch apps, invoke Activator actions, and more. All of this is easily performed from an interface that is engaged by means of its own Activator action. If you decide to try Speero, let us know what you think about it in the comments.

iPhone 4S hacked to charge wirelessly

Rumors that Apple is working on a wireless charging solution for its iOS devices have been bouncing around for years. We've even seen evidence of this in the company's patent filings.

But if you can't wait for Apple to implement the feature, you could always do it yourself. Tanveer Islam did it with his iPhone 4S, using a Powermat and a little know-how...

How to play music from within folders

Playing music from within a Home screen folder is now within the realm of possibilities, thanks to a recently released jailbreak tweak called FoldMusic. Once FoldMusic is installed on your iPod or iPod touch, you can easily add new albums or playlists to a Home screen folder.

From there you can open the folder, and tap to play the tracks within. You'll also find volume/AirPlay controls, and transport controls for previous, play, and skip — all located conveniently within each folder.
