Tumblr posts ‘very important’ app update to patch security flaw

Yahoo-owned Tumblr issued an update for its native iOS app last night, bringing the client to version 3.4.1. But you won't find any new features or UI enhancements in this release—this particular update is all about security.

Apparently the popular micro-blogging service was recently made aware of a major security issue, which in some cases allowed user passwords to be compromised. So it's urging users to download this 'very important' update...

Google Maps 2.0 is out with enhanced navigation and iPad support

Good news iOS users! The big Google Maps update that hit the Android Play Store last week is now rolling out to Apple's mobile platform. The update, which brings the app to version 2.0, contains a number of new features including iPad support and indoor maps.

Although Apple's Maps application has significantly improved in recent months, many folks still prefer to use Google's offering. And since it launched its standalone Maps app on iOS last December, users have been clamoring for an iPad version. Well, here it is...

IMDb app updated with in-app movie ticket purchasing, Amazon Mobile integration and more

Amazon's IMDb app has come a long way in the last 6 months. It received a major UI facelift back in December of last year, and just a few months ago it received another significant update which added global release dates and other new data.

And this morning, it gets even better. The new release, which brings the app to version 3.3, adds a slew of new features including in-app movie ticket purchasing (currently for US users only) Amazon Mobile integration for movie purchases, and more...

Square Enix apologizes for Deus Ex anti-jailbreak bug, promises fix

Jailbreakers who went to download the newly-released Deus Ex: The Fall yesterday were met with an unpleasant surprise. They were unable to properly play the game, because the developers built in code that disabled firing on jailbroken devices.

Of course, it wasn't an issue for very long—a jailbreak tweak called xCon patches the code that identifies jailbroken devices. But today, Publisher Square Enix apologized for the whole thing and said that it would remove the code in a future update...

Facebook app updated with new icons for verified accounts and more

Facebook has posted a small update for its iOS application this afternoon, bringing the mobile client to version 6.3. The update only brings about a handful of improvements, but one of them could have major implications for the social network.

New in version 6.3 are blue check mark icons for verified accounts—similar to what you see on Twitter. This makes it easier to find pages of celebrities, public figures and brands that have been officially confirmed and authenticated by Facebook...

The competition is really heating up in the streaming music space these days. What with players like Apple and Twitter setting their sights on the lucrative business, it seems like every streaming service in the industry is trying to step up their game.

Apple seeds iOS 7 beta 3 to developers: this is what’s new

As predicted by a report late last month, Apple has seeded iOS 7 beta 3 to developers this morning. The update comes two weeks after Apple posted the second beta to its next-generation mobile operating system, and nearly a month after it released the initial version following its WWDC keynote.

The third beta is available for compatible iPhones, iPads and iPod touch models, and can be downloaded by visiting the Software Update section in the Settings app of devices that currently have iOS 7 installed. Real Racing 3 Prestige update adds Mercedes-Benz and Bentley vehicles, more

Developer Firemonkeys and publisher Electronic Arts thus far issued two major content updates to Real Racing 3, enriching the experience by adding hundreds of new events along with an assortment of new vehicles.

Today, the dynamic duo released a third tentatively named 'Prestige' update along the same lines. If you're a fan of high-speed racing games, the Prestige update should make you happy.

The content pack features some high speed cars from Mercedes-Benz and Bentley, more than 180 new events, twilight racing and the highly requested Time Trial mode. I've included more information and a video after the break...
